How was 2024 for you?

Hi! New member! 2024 was pretty bad for me. 2023 also. My husband died at the end of 2023. So was all alone, couldn't pay many bills without help. Had to apply for DIC for widow of totally disabled veteran. Took so long and in the meantime I'm hanging in. Got treated for severe depression. Time seems to speed up as you age.

We lost our buddy, Joey, this year, so that sucked. He was a great dog. :(

We did have a good vacation in Washington, D.C., though. My avatar is from a photo I took at the air and space museum just outside of D.C.

Other than that, it was fairly uneventful. My wife went through some joint replacement surgeries, and she's doing pretty well, so that's a good thing. My body is holding up fairly well.

Well in the scheme of things, I gained 3 more brothers and lost a very old friend. My adult son's father also passed which really rocked my world.

Solved 2 crimes w/ State Police. One current and one a cold case.

Designed some new patterns for several shawls and felted hats. The hats are adorable. And true to my promise to myself, I keep silence for at least 5 days a week.

I am thankful and blessed to have this life.

I fell in May and Broke my Arm in four places , had it in a Brace and sling for 8 weeks , then had Physio to learn how to use my arm again due to the connection to the brain broken , , I missed my mouth a few times when i tried feeding my self .
Im still under the Hospital because its not mended yet , I have to go regular for xrays on it . Its been a pain ful 12 months , i also fell out the loft , injuries too ... 6 months before the arm accident .
Im going to be very careful next year ..

12 months is a long time to be in a hospital. My late hubby was in and out of the VA hospital a lot last year. They always wanted to send him home after a few days. His last admission in early December, they wanted to send him to a nursing home. Gave me a list. The comments about those nursing homes were awful. I wanted to bring him home with the hospice people coming out from time to time, but they said I wasn't able to care for him. Did they think I wasn't before? The last two days, he was getting the VA hospice care with sedation. I hope I can stay at my home. I am 77, with a back and hip giving me a lot of pain.

Sorry @Sasha for what you went through with your late hubby ,yes Hospitals want you out as soon as they can , just to clear up any misunderstanding , ive not been an inpatient for 12 months ,, what time i was in i had excellent care , ive been home looking after myself since the accidents , and if i say so myself , done a good job of it . Just bed making as been a problem .
Sasha take every day as it comes , and i hope you can stay in your own home .. Have the best Christmas you can .

The highlight for me in 2024, the end of May moved into a retirement community, Canterbury Woods- Gates Circle after being on the waiting list for a yr for a 1brm apt
I'm 3 blocks{ 15 min walk} from where I use to live 36 yrs in a co op apt building ,sold the apt in Aug, closing end of Oct .I do miss seeing my friends on a daily basis, but I stay in contact with a few by phone, have invited them over for lunch or dinner
I'm in my 'happy place' love living here at Gates, met some wonderful new friends in the process
