What have you bought recently?

We wandered through Atwoods yesterday kind of mingling with the natives. A pair of mottled red Justin lace up Ropers had me take a deep breath - until I saw the price tag. $199 for a pair of work boots! At the end it was no boots, jeans or Kimber. A $2.50 can of duck cat food which Izzi deemed not edible. But we had a good time!
Uncle Amazon delivered tourniquets for the first aid kits in the trucks.

Both DIL & SIL were raving about the FullStar chopper. They’d received it as a gift and bah humbugged getting another useless tool to store away. They swear by it and said it made prep so much easier. They were on sale at Amazon and it arrived yesterday. Lots of parts to store.

The official link to the instructions was broken. That’s not a great sign.

Today I’ll test it. I notice in the YT videos that people have to use a lot of pressure to use them.

Some Swedish dish cloths. I bought some for my daughter but never used them myself. I ran across some Christmas ones at Aldi for $4, the last pack. How did I live without these?
I bought four more on Amazon.
About six months ago, at Costco Business Center I spotted a 24 pack of white cotton bar towels for $12-ish. They're about the size of generous washcloths. 24 was way more than I needed, so gave half to DD.

My paper towel usage was always low, but now DH also uses fewer of them. There's always a stack of clean bar towels in the kitchen drawer.

I'm guessing Swedish dish cloths serve a similar purpose.

This a snap decision purchase. I bought a carryon suitcase. It’s very light, has no extra compartments and folds down for storage. The front and back are hard, the sides are fabric. It’s a pull along style.

On our recent flight my other new suitcase wouldn’t fit in the overhead. Fortunately that plane didn’t have dividers under the seat, so my bag fit. DH hurt his shoulder a few months ago and it was nearly healed. He twisted it again when trying to put it up. The FA suggested that we should probably do checked luggage. We agreed we would on the way home.

I hope I can pack everything I still need in this one. I use packing bags.

If I’m on my own, someone always helps me get my bag overhead.

On Christmas Day when we were heading to the Skytrain, there were two flights of stairs down and the only escalator was going up, and no elevators. I now had two suitcases. Carry one down part way, come back for the other. Two young ladies saw me doing this and ran up and grabbed both and carried them down. Really sweet of them.

I have those bar towels. Well, I got mine at Sams. I do like those too.
The Swedish cloths are like thick paper towels, very thick. I think they eventually break down but replace so many rolls of paper towels. Here:

I have a mere $50 in real money to use for odds and ends for the next two weeks and am gonna try real hard to do no-spend from the money in my checking account.

Like Bob the Builder says: "Can we do it? Yes, we can!"

I think.

I'm getting tighter than bark on a tree.
no...this is to put away for your flight to London... or if you decide to take the long way round and enjoy a cruise on the way...you'll need that money for some handsome waiter tips...:D

Ha. I said it's gonna get cold and we'll probably even get ice or sNOw. I just read online that it's gonna get cold and we'll probably even get ice or sNOw.

Apparently I now qualify as a meteorologist. Where's my 💰?

I love and use those bar towels, too. My uncles owned several bars here in town through the years and they're very reminiscent of what I would see being used all the time.

Report for the FullStar food chopper. Overall I really like it. The problem is that I don’t have the oomph behind it for chopping some harder items. Maybe I need to load fewer pieces. Once I got the hang of it, the sweet onions and hard boiled eggs were perfect. Carrots were at the wrong angle or too many? DH didn’t have a problem.

I would like to have the model with storage pieces. The basic model was the only one on sale.

My frother for coffee cream (actually a combo of oat, soy & almond milks) went out. Nearly $40 and they only last about 6-8 months. Didn't miss a step - I have one in RV so grabbed that one to pull me through. After learning the hard way the first go-round, I ALWAYS buy Amazon's insurance for them.
The new one arrives Thursday.

'tis the season to restock foods that fit DH & my normal eating patterns, i.e., heavy on the fresh veggies. Since Thanksgiving the fridges moved to that holiday bell curve pattern - increasingly packed with cookie doughs and holiday foods until they peaked on Christmas Eve. Those foods are nearly gone so I have room again for fruits and veggies. Lots of homemade pizza and cookies in the freezer though 😋.

All for travel. All the little things can add up.

Ordered Kiehl’s unscented antiperspirant/deodorant cream. Searching for a cream that I can decant into smaller containers for travel, I found this so will give it a try. Summer heat or travel stress leave me soaking wet.

A small container of concentrated mouthwash. Add a drop to water.

A small 52 ml tube of toothpaste. Just before travel I’ll use half so it‘s even smaller. It was on sale for $.54. A travel size tube costs ~$2.50+. My dentist doesn’t give the samples any more. I’d been thinking of a powdered toothpaste.

I ordered a pair of sandals from Amazon. Spur of the moment because they were on sale and my size. Really, you can sell me almost any footwear if it’s my size, because it’s hard to find. I draw the line at stilettos.

Also ordered a new cover for my phone. I seriously must have spent 2 hours analyzing and reanalyzing a $20 purchase.

A couple of days ago I bought a 10” All-Clad fry pan. I had the set and had replaced this size with a SS version, which I love for some things, not others. Found this in a Big Box clearance store. This was unused. Some of the pans hanging on the shelf are filthy from use. Probably returned to Costco. They take (almost) everything back and sell it in bulk to these resellers. I don’t know why they waste their shelf space with these disgusting items.
