MOT failure- Twisted brake hose

Not sure if this will be helpful or not but, it sounds a similar issue.

The garage who have my car now are a national chain,...it's where I usally get my car tested every year but as I had to have a new exhaust and brakes last year I let the other garage do it..

Now the Chain Manger rung me said they couldn't get the hoses for today.. so they will have to keep the car until they can do it monday morning ..and with 4 new tyres ( budget tyres)..it's going to cost me £400......so I called the privately owned garage that fixed my brakes last year and told them that the chain garage say they are responsible for the twisted hoses...

they say no way... that the hoses are not touched when pads and disks are being replaced.. and if the hoses were twisted I'd have had no brakes....and that I should refuse to pay the £158 the chain garage is asking for the supply and fit of the hoses... and take my car to the private garage and they would look at it for free..

My dillemma is that they can't look at it until mid week.. and I need the car to go to hospital at the start of next week, and it's illegal to drive the car without a current MOT pass..... so I am going to have to pay the Chain garage to do the repair.. but I told the chain garage what the private one said.. ..and they've absolutely refuted the idea that the hoses wouldn't have been removed during the Brake pad and Disk replacements.. and asked me to give them the number of the garage, and they would speak to them direct... dear oh dear... what a tangled web we weave ...

One lesson... never try and rip me off.. for anything... because I'm like a dog with a bone, until I get answers... and results..

hollydolly: You're certainly going through a rough time with the car. I hope all will be dealt with soon. Once when I had a previous car looked at and they had to drive it up on the hoist I heard a loud bang and said "I hope you didn't damage anything", he said "No", but when I drove it away I heard a loud banging sound and took it to my local garage to check it out, I told him the other garage said nothing wrong, he said "Bulls**t" and to take it back.
When I got back, I told him what the other garage said "Bulls**t" with many people at the garage, He immediately got his mechanic to check it out and said they had found the fault. 'I think some these mechanics think women don't understand about cars. But I'm like you and won't let them get away with anything. Good luck with the car.

One snake will not tell on the other. Is any other transportation to and from the hospital available?

well they are both telling different stories, they're rivals so one of them is telling the truth....

No there is no public transport to the hospital from here .. and an uber is very expensive..a Cab even more so..

All my neighbours who drive, work.. so I can't even ask one of them...so it's important I have my car back...which means the Chain garage will do the work...

yep trish I know it's a failure if I have a twisted hose.. but the problem is..One garage is telling me (F1) for your info...that the hose is twisted so the MOT has failed... and the other garage who repaired my brakes...say nonsense'' there no chance that the hose is twisted... so without an intermediary mechanic i can't know whose telling the truth...

This is one of the reasons I paid for the Mobile mechanic to do a Pre Mot inspection last Saturday... but clearly he didn't go far enough in his checks...I had a feeling that he hadn't because he talked a lot..and secondly he didn't return when he said he would to finish the work

I can take the car away but it'll be illegal to drive because it's failed on a Safety issue... otherwise I would take it, and have someone else inspect it.. but I daren't take it on the road

It's annoying isn't it. Where did you find the mobile mechanic?

It's important you get to the hospital so, I think you are wise to just get it done and get your car back. (y)
 
This is my concern..we were supposed to have got snow today, but i supect it might come tomorrow instead... and they say its going to be up to a foot deep. if that's the case I might not be abe to get to the garage to pick up my car...
 
22deg F now and still moisture falling, looks like sleet, and
the highways intersates are messy lot of big wrecks.....oh and
hot news, the kc cheiefs football boys got stranded at the
airport trying to get to a game, poooor babies....lOL>...

I'm glad I popped in and saw your post.

I was travelling south of you, and (happily) the roads were dry! It's always a good feeling to get home safely!

I don't follow football myself, but I do know a lot of KC fans. So.....was the game cancelled? I have no idea what happens in a situation like that. 🏈

I know that's grasping but you need help.
 
Good morning!!!! I'm up (sort of), and working on my ☕.

Today we are expecting some rain. 🌧

Tomorrow starts the COLD weather, and maybe some sNOw. Our highs for most of the week won't go above freezing! Burrrrr! 🌡

Dio has the woodstove setup and ready, so we will be toasty warm when the temperatures drop! 🔥

I'm planning on trying a new recipe for dinner today. Other than that, I'm mostly just going to wait and see what the day has in store for me.
 
Morning gang!!! Welp slept well overnite, and let it snow snow snow......hahaha, it has only snowed an inch, but that is blowing
big time, so hard to tell total, and it is not over yet, 18deg F, and
temp's not rising any today...so it is a mess out there, again lotsa wrecks, prob some road shut downs...it is winter in kc mo !!!!

No...in this country we don't have church communities in the same way as you have them in the US...sad , but we don't...but thanks for your concern, I'll be fine... I'll either get my car or my friend said she would start work an hour late and take me......it'll be ok in the end (y)

It's been snowing during the night, it settled for a couple of hours, but then the rain started so it's all slush now....temps are 53 f....
