Reflections of My Life

Oh gosh Kat, yes do get the carrier. I'm scared for you and those stairs if there was a fire!

I think there are slides of some kind to use going downstairs. Have you looked into those?
No, I doubt we could have a slide on our stairs here. See I can go down the front stairs from the lobby to the entrance so I keep thinking I might be able to do the other stairs. I just have to get brave enough to try it.

My manager came to my door today. She said Jeff has a $213. credit on his rent next month! Overpaid on the deposit. So I am thinking I can get him a laptop. Just put some more money with that since he won't know about it. Save it for a new Acer (that is the kind he knows how to use). He really needs something to do. Plus I can contact him with it. But will probably get the digital phone along with the internet from Spectrum. I never could do with just his check. Needed something saved up but he always ended up spending it.

Last night I had to put Rabbit in his cage to use the litter box. He didn't go back in there all night. Was not sure about the new area I made for him. Today though, Rabbit has adjusted to his new beach towel and pads replacing his old shabby sheets. In fact, he stayed in there all afternoon after the fire alarm thing. I cleaned his cage and he stayed in there the whole time. Later I got this photo of him.

Today should be a quiet day for me. I will be putting the new rug runner down in front of the dressers. I think it will make the floor warmer at night for Rabbit. I can't wait to do it so I can see how he reacts to it. Have to wait till my neighbors up because I want to vacuum the area first.

Yesterday when the manager came she had papers for both Jeff & me......the utility allowance for 2025! My rent will be $36. dollars lower. And Jeff's will be only $6. less. I do not know how they calculate it but that is how it came out. So we overpaid for January and have a credit toward our rent for February. It will go up a bit when we have to re-certify but that is due to the increase in our SS checks. So mine will be in June.

Cold this morning when I got up. Had to turn my heat up and get my slippers on. My phone said it is 16 degrees but feels like 6. I think I got that new rug runner for Rabbit just in time. He was on it when I got up.

Tuesday when the House Calls nurse came here, she was the same one who came last year. She has a bunny that is 9 years old and said she is starting to worry about her since they say they only live 10 years. I told her I don't think about it. If I don't think about something then it does not make me worry and get stressed.

I told her Rabbit is going on 11 and I am just thankful to have had him this long. When he goes I pray it will be quick and painless. I love him but know nobody lives forever. I have lost many critters over the years and you just have to accept it. So I spoil my bunny because I do not know how much longer I will have him.

This morning................

Kat?
I had bought the granddaughters coloring books, several years ago.

They have out grown them .

Could you tell me which gel pens are best to use?

Thanks,, so much.
I buy them on Amazon and always get the glitter gel pens. These are the last two I bought:

And this one comes in different colors. So if I need a certain color I will order a set like this.

It must have snowed during the night. I can't look out the windows because I have them blocked and it is still too cold to unblock them. Have to wait for the sun. Heard the garbage truck and the snow plows/salt truck. That's okay as I am not going outside anytime soon. Later to the dumpster. I am down to every other day for now. Too cold or too icy to walk out there but I don't let it go for more than two days worth.

I have been working on my budget sheet the last few days. Changing some things on it. I unsubscribed from Amazon's $2.99 for no ads on Amazon Prime videos. I have not watched any of them in months so not paying for that. I watch YT only. Plus my rent going down is a big change even if it is only a small bit but with me every bit counts.

February is going to be another "No Spend" month for me. I still have one credit card that I used and want to get that paid off by August. Snowballing that debt because that is what always works for me. Building up an emergency fund also. Besides I don't need anything. Especially since I now have that UHC benefit card.

My friend has it also and could not believe I spend the whole amount every month. If you don't use it and the next month comes it does not roll over. You lose it. I just stock up or buy whatever I will be needing the next month. I do all the things you need to do to earn the rewards (except the vaccines) for the extra money. I figure eventually that program will come to an end so better get it while I can.

This morning the temperature was 30 but feels like 6??????? That is a big difference. So I am leaving my windows blocked longer than usual. Normally I can't wait to let the light in. I will wait. I ordered some groceries that will be delivered sometime between 11 and 1. I have to use up the balance on my UHC card by the 31st so figured I should stock up. I did get some things for Jeff too.

My plan today includes cleaning out one half of the cupboard under the sink. Where my cleaning supplies are. It has gotten out of control. And then to clean the exterior of all the bottom cupboards. I don't know if I can do the higher ones at all but will do that another day anyway. I will do my walking lap around the hall again today. I did that once yesterday and then later walked out to the dumpster. So that was my exercise for yesterday.

I have been trying to get out to the dumpster daily because the bags are easier to carry if they are still light. And I noticed teeny tiny black flying bugs like fruit flies or something around the garbage can when I open it. I do not throw away any food at all but do have banana peels and coffee pods in there. Rabbit's litter box never has any type of insect near it or in it. So not that. Now I am putting the peels and pods in a plastic bag (the kind you get for produce in the store) and knotting it. Maybe that will help. I think they are after water.

I'm sure that water is a component required by those sorts of insects, but they would definitely consider banana peels to be food.

Try putting any food or wet scraps in the produce bag and into the freezer. Leave it open and add to it as needed. Then tie and toss on dumpster day.

The high for today is 23 so not walking outside to the dumpster. That is okay, I have been doing the "hall laps" and like doing it. Takes me a minute so is no big deal. Every week I do it, I plan to add another lap. I think I like doing it alone better than doing it with another person. That way I can just walk whenever I feel like it. No set time and I won't miss it because the other person cannot do it. Which is what I did before when I walked with my friend.

Maybe I will do laundry today. Usually on Sunday there is no one around. Of course, with this weather people might stay home and be around the building. I don't mind that just that they are not doing laundry too. With only 4 washers and 5 dryers it is not enough for many people to be doing their laundry at the same time. I usually only use one machine. I do that mainly because I do not feel like doing it all at one time. Little loads works best for me.

Since I changed Rabbit's stuff around I think he is getting more exercise. He hops around the bedroom area before he goes into his cage. Due to his age he has slowed down a lot and doesn't binky anymore. I miss that. But he did have that injury to his leg when I first got him so maybe it hurts as he got older. I don't know but he seems pretty happy most of the time.

This is a chilly, chilly morning.......my phone says it is -2 but feels like -15. So even though I see the sun trying to come into my windows I don't dare unblock the windows. The block out curtains do a good job of keeping the cold out. I can add warmth through layers and hot coffee but Rabbit is on the floor and he does not eat or drink anything warm. So have to make sure I keep him warm. Only supposed to get up to 9 degrees but that is not always correct.

I need to walk out to the dumpster sometime today and I will do that. You have to do these things even if it is cold out. I can have my son do it but he does not use the elevator and I am afraid of him dropping them on the stairs and hay going all over the place. There are a couple people who would complain if he did not clean up every strand of hay. So I feel better doing it myself.

Regardless of the weather, I am going to have a great day.

I made four batches of Keto Chow yesterday so as cold as it is I can still have my keto ice cream. I love it whether it is winter or summer. I know, I am strange. It helps me get enough protein and fat for the day. It takes awhile for a woman to get used to the idea that eating fat does not make you fat. And that it is really good for you. Especially your brain. So as I age, I try to make sure I get that. Moderate protein (but that is more than I was used to eating in my past) and high fat is what keto is about. Carnivore is more about zero carbs and only animal products (meat & dairy & fish).

Hoping I remember to do my walk today. For some reason I forgot yesterday.
