Around 7 this morning I walked out the front door took one look at sidewalk 'No NO Nannette'
It was icy,a mix of freezing rain& rain, temp was 25.I came back to my apt, changed into my new balance sneakers, walked twice around our long hallway,my exercise to start the day
I've invited another church friend, Ardrey for lunch today at 12:15,we've known each other since childhood. We went to same 'nursery school' back in the late 50's, were in same 4th grade class at our elementary school. She grew up on the same street,3 houses from where my close friends Marcia&Dave live This is a rescheduled date, she couldn't;t come in late Aug,look forward to this

DH & I quite like split pea soup. Between the fridge and pantry all ingredients are on hand, but it hadn't dawned on me yet this winter to make it. (We don't eat meat, so I make it without ham. Don't even miss it.)

Thanks for the inspiration, @Irishdude and @Vida May.

p.s. @Vida May, two of my dear friends live in Salem, OR, so I've been to the beautiful Willamette Valley several times. Lovely place.
🤫 Don't tell anyone. 😂 We are overcrowded and the cost of housing has gotten very high. In the past, there were not enough jobs to keep people here but that has changed. We still lack a strong high-tech industry, but we are no longer the quiet timber and farming town we once were. I don't like the change. We are becoming what many of us wanted to get away from.

We are between snow and rain, frozen or safe to walk and drive. I can't plan my day by the forecast because there is not that much difference between icy or safe and that makes the forecast wrong when it is only a few degrees different.

Today I have determined to focus on trying to resolve my CPAP problem. I don't think I am getting the right air pressure and I hope the doctor's office can increase the pressure as easily as they decreased it. The machine says I am doing just fine but I am now napping morning and afternoon and sleeping long nights. I really hope a small change will make a big difference. It is hard to get anything thing done when I need this much sleep and don't feel that good when I am awake.

Ok folkies... it's now 3.25pm still sunny, still freezing cold.....this is where I went this morning.. St Albans city centre....I chose today becuse Wednesday is market day and the whole country descends on it... it would seem.. so Thursdays are always very quiet...except traffic was horrendous... really cused by loads of roadworks going on... the clock church tower was competed in 1405.The pub opposite in the middle of the buildings with the hedge (The Boot ) ws built in 1420... and is one of the oldest pubs in the UK....

Bought a second carport tent and put it up for my tractor. Took the old one and moved it alongside the new one and stored a bunch of garden stuff in it.
Plus, I bought the 1/2 acre lot next to me and hired a skid steer mulcher rig to clear some of it. Then I went to work cutting down the larger tree's so he could munch them up. Long day, and a lot of tree's, but worth it.

You've certainly been busy SD. Fancy carports, yes....the green one even has palladian windows! Nice place you have. You deserve it.

Beautiful morning here. We drove down to Morrisons where for once we got some good bargains. On returning home, Mrs L informed me that we appeared to have a leak in the bathroom. Great, that's just what I needed. I set about taking off the panel round the WC and found that the seal round the flush pipe was leaking every time you flushed the loo. I managed to re-seat it, but I really need to replace the seal and that means a trip to the plumbers merchant in town. It can wait till tomorrow.

Occasional wintry mix continuing through 2 PM.
22F. The biggest concern is icing.

Yesterday I pulled 2 packs of chicken from the freezer, put in pressure cooker frozen solid with 4 cups water, cut up carrot and celery along with some poultry seasoning, bay leaf and bouillon cube. Beautiful, tasty chicken for doggie and me.
She loved her breakfast today with a few blueberries after.

Later I'll take my portion out and add sauteed onion, more carrot, a potato and salt.

I had the most useless appointment at the VA today. After waiting I didn't even see a doctor. Just a nurse who asked ME why I was there. Didn't know anything or even look anything up. I had to tell him everything that was going on how important everything is was happening with Oncology for a future appointment. He just said I'll get a call to to setup an appointment. He definitely didn't know what he was doing. I'm definitely going to complain about this one. Less than a rookie 👎
Turns out I wrong. I spoke with that department today and scheduled a colonoscopy. That guy didn't look like he was not enough to shave. I must really be old1738859871890.png:p:p

My orthopedic surgeon assured me that health wise I am in the top ten percent of guys my age. OK, at 89 I have no major problems and am still enjoying life. How do I do it?

Walking daily two hours with my pups: Heidi 65 lbs, Otto 84 lbs, and Ross 96 lbs. I am strengthening my arms daily in my mini gym, sometimes joined by my grandson. Exercising is the foundation of my health. But also sticking to the Mediterranean diet, never eating junk food, no alcohol, no smoking, but taking two dozen dietary supplements many of which are anti-oxidants. Inflammation of my body, as measured by the C-reactive protein test, is almost none. Inflammation is the root cause of so many health problems. The reward of my life style is to feel good.

Raining and cold here. Walked on the treadmill at the gym, saw many friends there and chatted a lot. Doing some tax- and investment-related paperwork now. Have to do some drawing "homework" and will spend some time on reorganizing and cleaning up my cluttered office.

can you believe looking at my pictures above with the beautful blue sky today.... that we're forecast for snow and rain tomorrow.... jeez!!

It's already started to feel cold now as it gets dark at just after 5pm... I'll need to go and put the tarp over the tool bench in the barn..cuz somehow or other the snow always seep into there when it melts..so I have to run the dehumidifier in there a lot...

Most excellent colder storm moving through Northern California today putting great snow up in Tahoe I'll soon be skiing. Way back just before Christmas I posted how someone placed a $100 bill on my Forester windshield wiper and I wondered on this board what to do with it. So has just been sitting around since. Just looked at it again and now notice on each side was a small word COPY.

So was just someone having fun.

It's time to start cutting back liriope. One year I thought I'd get a jump on it and cut it back in December. Well, we do get a bitter cold spell here and it was late. The new shoots of liriope were coming up and they got frost bit with nothing covering them. Lesson learned.
I just started cutting back my liriope also. I don’t have a back problem but standing & leaning over far enough to cut from the bottom with a hedge trimmer takes a toll. I’m about over it lol. I used to sit on the ground & trim them back with a handheld manual clipper as i scooted along on the ground. It just takes so long to do them that way since i’ve got sooo many of them & they grow so large here in the south.

Do you use a power trimmer of some sort to cut yours back?
(What i’m really hoping of course is that you’ve figured out a quick & easy way to handle this chore & that you’ll make my day & tell me alllll about it.)😉

Geez @hollydolly, I hope you didn't sit outside to have a cuppa! That blue sky looks so...springlike.
I didn't stop for a cuppa tea today.... I was going to but I'll tell you why ...

When I parked , a lady who was just leaving as I arrived and who'd paid for 2 hours parking and had only used 30 minutes, gave me her unused time (ticket).. and hour and a half.. ..so by the time I'd walked from the car park down into town, and then gone everywhere I needed to go, which would then normally be the time I'd go and have a drink... my parking time was almost up.

I could have gone back and put more time on, but I didn't see the need , just to have a drink.. so instead I had to drive to another town anyway to pick some stuff up for DD... so that's what I did.. and the reason I didn't have a drink.. :D

@hollydolly When I'm out with DD, she always goes to a drive-thru to get tea. I decline with polite thanks because I keep tea at home. She mentions daily that she's "broke," and I don't understand why she insists on buying something that she's got at home, too...already paid for. No wonder she's broke. Now, if we were meeting a friend at, for instance, Starbucks, that would be different.
