There needs to be a "Dislike" option along with the "Like" option.

I dont know why but some people always annoy me with what they say and thats where I gotta put them on ignore. Its a great feature because it guarantees me a positive experience on the forum.
yep I'm with you OF...

I've been here 11 years, I've seen some horrible people here, and some are still here, and if I hadn't had them on ignore, I'd have been gone from the forum a long time ago...

No, we don't need that. I like this forum in that the "mature" folks here don't resort to a lot of insulting.
Quite right, my cat would make a good dislike gesture. When she's p*ss*d off she will walk away, tail in the air, then flick it. I swear it's a feline version of the middle finger, "up your's!"

This is one of the things why I like it here. 'Maturity', the other day on youtube a young person made a very rude and insulting comments. I kept coming back with kindness and positivity and it just enraged them more.

IF there was a dislike option, I would view it as more of a “I disagree with your comment”. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing and you don’t have to elaborate on why. However, I can see some people getting offended if someone disagreed with what they just been posted and it could start an all-out war – I’m right, you’re wrong - childish, I know, but sometimes in a large group that is what happens when people aren’t rational and take things personally. Yikes – if there was a dislike option, I would likely be bombarded now.

I disagree with your comment. If you disagree with someone, you should elaborate why so there can be a discussion or a debate, but just saying that you disagree or "no, that's wrong" is really annoying. I mean, why bother responding if you're not going to defend your position?

A few weeks ago, I responded with a vomit emoji to a post and got banned for a week! :ROFLMAO:

It was a political post that I was responding to, which aren't supposed to be allowed here. I thought an emoji would be better than engaging with the person who made the post, but I guess I should have just ignored it.
Two days ago someone left a condescending response to comment I made. I was considering jumping all over them, but decided to ignore it and not stoop to their level.

There was one poster in this forum during Covid who would get really nasty and make snide remarks to anyone who didn't agree with him. I would spar with him, but we found some things in common and I kinda liked him eventually. I found out he was a virtuoso piano player when he posted a video. He is no longer here.

Unless someone is trolling me I don't use Ignore. If I put someone on ignore I may actually never find out more about them.

@hollydolly you probably remember him. He and Aneeda used to spar and it was hilarious.

am not in favour of a dislike button. What would it gain?

I am on a large weight/nutrition forum and it had a disagree button - not dislike, just disagree

It did not work well - people were offended at others using it, it did not lead to constructive discussion and some used it indiscriminately against any post by someone they disliked

so the disliked poster might post something simple and factual - like "I am 60 years old" and the serial disagree-ers disagreed.
Obviously they weren't really disputing the poster's age - just wanted to mar their posts.

After a while, the disagree button was removed.
