Tiny homes, motor homes, any kind of small homes.

Everyone of these homes is charming. The nice thing about being old is that I don’t need a large amount of space. Just a comfortable home for myself and my two dogs. We have downsized to the essentials. Nicer accommodations than a tent and not big enough to worry about cleaning regularly. My home is small too.

Bon voyage Shamu!

In 1995 a town resident donated his old 1982 Airstream Class A motor home to my town’s OEM, Office of Emergency Management. He explained that motor home parks he visited had a 10 year rule, prohibiting motor homes over 10 years old, considering them to be dilapidated. It was in incredibly good condition and ran very well.

The town applied for and received a small state grant to convert the RV into a mobile command center for catastrophic events. It could easily tow rescue boats. Somehow it acquired the nickname “Shamu.”

It wasn’t used much, but in 1995 Hurricane Floyd hit and flooded out New Jersey. Equipped with several radios, a coffee machine, and snacks Shamu was extremely helpful - but the crew inside was so extremely busy coordinating first responders they didn’t see the rising water and discovered that it began to float.

The rescuers had to be rescued as Shamu floated away. Bon voyage Shamu!

This thread reminded me of the redwood log home that used to be an attraction on the midway of our state fair every year.

I’m not sure if this is the same one but it is similar.
