Could you live without your phone and the internet?

Phones can be useful in many ways. I have very few added apps to my phone. But do have excellent grocery app used for years. I log doctor and other apps in the calendar. I use alarm at 9 pm to remind us to take nightly pill. A few other needed things. What I do not do, is waste time taking useless selfies, use phone while I have company of any kind, or at a restaurant-and do not use while driving in anyway other than GPS. Oh and sometimes I call people! The voice is a dead give away as to how you or they really are:)

Could'n't hit specific key or keys on a cellphone. Finger would jump around and hit every key if I tried dialing even 1 or 911. Is there any cellphone that would automatically dial 911 on its own when that happens?:D

I don't have a phone. When I was working, I had a phone and was on call 24/7. Never again...

I do use the internet and enjoy it. Although, I could get along without using the internet... Our landline phone used to work fine, when that was all, we had...

Could I live without my phone nor internet?
That's an easy answer. The alternate is not to live. I want to live.
And it would probably be the healthiest thing that ever happened to me.
Since my phone is archaic , sometimes I simply take it out of the old leather protective pouch I carry it in and act like I'm speaking but quietly , so many look like a deer caught in headlights when they see it .

It's like they are close to going into shock and not just younger people .

I enjoy doing this at stores , lol

you can switch them off , when you don't want to be disturbed.. I often turn mine off.. especially if I want to have a lie in , and don't want people calling before whatever time I'm going to get up.....or if I'm having a quick nap during the dy...

We have to turn our phones off in the Doctors waiting room etc as well

Holly...if I had one it would be switched off all the time! Point being I don't want to be interrupted. When I worked, I had to put up with it, but no more...

I need to 'qualify this a bit'...my parents are deceased as is my only sibling. My two adult kids and wife understand my issue and know in an emergency they would have to get hold of me the old way. They can leave a message on our land line at home.
All, family understand this, and they get it!

I could go back to life without a cell and the internet. found that people spoke more... Strike up a conversation anywhere with anyone... Now, as I wrote, people are always staring at their phones... Just found like more personable... back in the day...
Yes .

I go to a few places to get take out food and all kidding aside sometimes you see the entire family sitting at the table on their phones be it texting , videos , chatting with someone else .

You go to the beach and people are in knee deep water on their phones .

I think it has to do with so many having an addiction to take photographs of every thing they do to post it on Facebook and Instagram.

That's one of the best things about our phones/the internet, the way it connects us all. If I didn't have access to the internet, I would feel disconnected from the hive.
Exactly. I too would feel very disconnected if I didn’t have my iPhone. Family and friends I can keep in touch with via text or yakking on the phone. I also like keeping in touch with people here at the forum. I’ve met a lot of nice people whom I keep in touch with. .

I went out to my backyard and just out of the corner of my eye I noticed a young man walking around on the apartment deck next door. Suddenly, I heard him say something & so I turned and looked up at him to ask him what he said to me. Turns out he was talking loudly to someone over his cellphone! I felt a bit stupid and a lot peeved at the same time at him for talking so loudly!

what's worse is people these days are talking as they're walking along the road..alone ! They don't have a phone in their hands they're talking into a Bluetooth piece..which you can't see.. so it looks like they're demented..
