Our favorites are Pink Ladys, and second are Braeburn. These two have a slight tart taste and not too sweet. Third place would be Granny Smith. How about you, what's your favorite apple? :apple:

Envy apples and Pacific Rose are my favorite eating apples.
Envy and Pacific Rose apples from New Zealand taste way better than the ones grown in the US.

Golden Delicious and Gala apples are my choices for baking.

Honey Crisp can vary by geography. The Pacific NW is not quite the right climate for them. I buy local ones now and then.

Lately I choose Fuji given a choice. Granny Smith was a favorite for years but I got "bored." Gala is my "they're out of everything else" apple.

But I also buy older varieties, almost anything but "Delicious" which is too mealy and mushy.

Does MacIntosh not exist anymore? Couldn't find them last fall; only Cortland & Empire. Close, but no cigar.

Macoun

"Looking for a perfect, no-fat dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth? Macoun is the answer, but make sure you get yours at the right time, as these special apples are only available in the fall. Macoun was developed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva in 1932, and is named for a famous Canadian fruit breeder."
