Spring Time - Who else is ready?

Very nice .

Does your husband like hot peppers I ask as tried ghost peppers last year and grew like weeds but so hot so unpleasant that gave plants away but lots men do like them .
Thank you. We both love hot peppers but never grown them. We buy the pickled hot peppers. I think raw hot peppers might be too hot for me also. Oddly enough my husband hated hot foods. Now he adds franks hot sauce on many foods.

I an jealous!
What is funny is that this lemon tree is a survivor. First my last pup chewed it to a stump; it grew back stronger and prettier. Then I dug it up from its original place and put it in a pot on an east patio.

Then I planted it on the east side of the backyard, but four months later decided to move it to the middle of the backyard, where it is now. It looked so bedraggled a month ago, I thought I would go buy a new one to replace it. But lo and behold I went out there this last week and it has very tiny BUDS and very tiny new green leaflets at the branch tips!

It never lost all its old leaves - citrus trees don't do that here in AZ - but it looked like it had been drug through a keyhole two months ago! :ROFLMAO:

I am now emotionally attached  to this clearly resilient tree! Simply because it is forgiving me for putting it through hell and about to bloom fragrant lemon blooms for me!

Maybe I should post photos as it progresses...

I had my leaf shedding trees all chopped down last year... after 40 years I could no longer cope with the never ending raking...
Maybe I am weird, but I enjoy raking leaves. I also enjoy (love it) shredding leaves to make mulch piles and then selling it. Had a really nice Craftsman shredder, 9 hp years ago. Miss it and the whole process. As I said, maybe I am weird.

IMO cherry tomatoes which grow easily in a bucket , stock tank , hanging basket , etc and FAST pack the best flavor punch , Roma types grow bit slower / bigger but also great . After awhile you might get sick of eating them .

I have not had same luck with larger tomatoes .

We grew tomato plants in buckets last year. We had various cherry tomatoes,
( chocolate) and various full sized ones including Romas, yellow boys and beef eaters. They all grew very well. Later in the year when they outgrew their buckets, we transplanted them into the garden.
Thanks for sharing.

@PeppermintPatty .......what size buckets are you using for your tomatoes? I know I've mentioned this before....but I was told that those roots need space to spread. Do you think there's enough room for that in those 5 gallon buckets? Thx
Am SO jealous. I can't grow a tomato to save my life. Especially here in AZ. So dry. Texas I did a bit better at trying...but was constantly picking off those huge ugly GREEN, horned worms that "pop" when squished and that sound gives me the shivers. 🤢 They can eat all the leaves off a tomato plant overnight, and they are SO hard to see and pick off.

Ghosts and Reapers and what not is something SO grows and I dispose of by giving away. I am so sorry but Joe just took the last. Duck!
Habanero or Tabasco may work for you. Purple Habanero did really well last year. How about Hot Banana? Water then an hour or so before you harvest. It lowers the capsaicin concentration.
Make your own pepper sauce:)

Oh I like this idea. Make our own pepper sauce. That’s a great idea. Hot banana peppers is a great idea. Maybe we will grow some hot pepper plants. Thanks two step.

We had to water our tomato plants everyday while they grew in the 5 gallon buckets. Tomato plants drink a lot of water plus they need feeding and often. Maybe try a small cherry plant and work your way up.

We started off all our tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets and then transplanted them into our garden when their roots started poking through the bottom on the container.

Having said all that we didn’t start from seed last year. We purchased our fairly mature tomato plants from our garden centre. Five gallon buckets might work fine if you’re starting from seed and water them daily.

Hi dobielvr, five gallon buckets are what we used but we had to transplant them into the ground after a couple of months. Tomato plants grow fast and require a lot of water so if you need to grow them in containers, ten gallon buckets would be better.

Pruning the plants helps them grow better as does plant supports.

I got hit with those green caterpillars 3 years ago and wiped out much of the tomato plants but after that as fertilizer I began to use worm castings as fertilizer due to my caladiums and giant elephant ears being hit with white fly after that maybe just luck but no green caterpillars nor white flies .

Someone told me the worm castings drives them away .

Definitely spring like here now.. this is my lane....
