I have moles near left breast. Now women are advised to check breasts for lumps at least once a month, I never did. (I hate having moles!) One day one mole near my left breast itched, groan. When I reached to scratch it, my wrist brushed against my breast, and I felt a lump! Blew my mind. Had successful surgery well aware that my hated mole's itching had probably saved my life. I was 78. :)
Elsie... thank goodness you found it, and it was removed in a succesful surgery... but you know even if you hadn't found a lump, they always say, if a mole itches you MUST have it investigated..

@hollydolly , I've been so busy that I wasn't aware you had come down with a dangerous lower respiratory tract infection. So looked back on this thread to a week ago. Scary. Glad to read you are now on the way to recover. I just added to previous posts on ways beyond usual doctor advice and treatment, dealing with these respiratory diseases that are a leading cause of senior mortality.

Lots of people have bad colds. In my reality.
thanks for that link David, that's very helpful (y)

Had a runaround with the electricity and gas company.

Brought it on myself. Somehow when pulling paperwork together for my income tax return I moved the bill into the "paid" pile without doing so. No clue until a week or so ago when a shut off notice came by mail.

Immediately paid the arrears and new month's billings, but it took some time to post with a weekend in between. Checked on Tuesday (yesterday) though, and the phone-bot said the payment was received and I had a zero balance at this time.

Then another 'bot left a message last night, asking me to call back at such-and-so number. Tried that today, but when it prompted me to enter the phone # where the message had been left for me I did so and then it hung up. Tried this again from the phone that got left the message. Same hangup.

Called the number from the shut off notice mailing and sat on hold 25 minutes. Finally a nice lady picked up, we went over everything, and I got an old name off the account (from over 25 years ago).

She then went on a hard-sell for a free cash saving program. The deal is that they notify of a rough electricity day and you agree to shift power use to low-demand hours. The more you can shift, the bigger the billing credit you receive. People with whole-house backup power save the most. I opted in, and hope I don't regret it.

I asked her if those are the days that Canada shuts off power. We both had a big old laugh, our power has nothing to do with Canada.

Said goodbye, then somebody else came on the line. Very hard to hear, and trying hard to sell their major appliance repair service account. Thanked her and turned it down.

Quite a runaround, entire problem of my own making anyway, and I probably made it worse by joking around. Hopefully this is the end of it.

" and I probably made it worse by joking around"

Yes you can not joke around , I loved ( past tense ) but you can not anymore as so much out sourced , some of these people if thrown off in the tiniest way fall apart , it is like dealing with programmed Droids but at least you did have some laughs and solved it .

A better day today. Mum is home and doing ok. We've arranged for an extra carer to come in at 8pm in addition to her morning one - just for a week. She's a bit dazed and confused but they say that will wear off in a few days. On the whole it's looking positive

On my early walk this morning at 6:50, temp was 54 I walked around the building before breakfast
The last day of winter{OH, YES} so I strolled 10 blocks, took me 30 min went to Walgreens for a couple of items, took the bus home, was back within 45 min
Its been a sunny, warm day temps in the low 70;s,this afternoon I walked around the building, notice other residents were out and about as well
After dinner, I'll tackle today's NYT daily crossword puzzle

are you in a hot part of the US, Chic?
are you in a hot part of the US, Chic?
No I'm in the Northeast but we are having one of those rare warm springs we get once a decade. It was in the seventies yesterday and nice out. I'm waiting for the flowers which will be here before Easter this year. This makes me smile. I enjoy Easter a lot even though I'm not really religious. :)

After a nap, I went out and attacked the garden. Crossed two big jobs off my list...painting flower pots and planting the flowers I got this morning. And...not on my list but needing to be done was mowing the new lawn. Yay me.

A cold front is going to roar through in the middle of the night so we'll get up in the morning to a balmy 55F, but it won't get any warmer all day. Frost tomorrow night. Nothing more will get done in the garden until maybe Friday.

DD is making a pork tenderloin for supper. Imagine! She's always maintained that I should do tenderloins because she doesn't "know how." Good thing she's cooking because I'm so hungry that I could chew a baby's butt through the slats of a park bench.

That PSA about mentors is on again, and still nobody here has stepped up to volunteer to be my mentor😭. What that tells me is that y'all don't really care about me and want me to be a rich influencer. Heck, I'd do it for any one of you yanno...if I knew enough about anything to "ment" y'all about.

Since I won't be able to play in the dirt tomorrow, I'm gonna do laundry. And my nails. I'm gonna do my nails.

I will be your Mentor because you are witty but are your standards truly that low , I mean seriously ?

Earlier I read one of my own posts and did not notice it was mine , I said to myself " Wow this illiterate lady (I'm a man ) can not even put together a coherent paragraph "

But okay it's on I will Mentor you and GOOD LUCK as you will need it .

Cool day today! First couldn't find my ski pass hanging in it's normal spot w my ski pants. Ugggggg Then we grabbed a very, very hard to get camping reservation in Yellowstone for October. That made me very happy. I took this picture last year from the same campsite and same days we have booked for 2025. Searched further and found my pass, which would have cost $50 to replace and it's annoying.

Then met up w the family for some skiing on an incredibly beautiful day.

After wife and daughter left I went over to watch some ski racers train for the upcoming World Cup Finals. They are beasts!!! This is an American woman on the 'B' team. The actual races start Saturday; our little town is going to be at the center of the sporting world with all the best skiers in the world(that are healthy late in the season.) Sure other sports are more popular but this is a VERY big deal.

Looking forward to tomorrow, will get to ski w the kid one more day before she heads home after spring break(she's a sped teach.)

Chauffeur service weekly and a good chat and laugh - I travel in my hire van each week with my fellow chums - all Indigenous to Oz except me- they are often rather shy but know me well and we slowly work up to a good laugh. I have Indigenous connections in town and they know me and the connections well so I have an Indigenous passport to mirth.

And it is mirth ; their style of mirth not mine but I join in well. We all shop at WW sometimes crossing isles and then return home together being dropped off one by one - I'm second last on the list - sometimes I think - well that was a boring experience - but of course it never is or should be - it is in fact a moment of magic - I am permitted to cross an invisible barrier to mirth ; social mores and habits and they accept my mild chastisements given with a gentle touch to their shoulder - simple heh but for me magic - we do other things together too but that's another story another day

Lovely day again, but we're going to miss it as we're off to the theatre for 'A play, a pie and a pint'. These are mostly 2 or 3 handers written and performed my local artists - although occasionally a well known actor takes part. We've got a few theatre trips planned over the next month from Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The grand duke' to 'Me and my girl' and 'Anything goes'. We like a good stage musical.

Glorious sunshiney day.... temps set to be in the high 60's... 🌞 🌞

Almost 9am now....52 deg...but I already have all the windows and back door wide open to let the air swoosh through...

Happy first day of spring, y'all! Spring has sprung, the grass has riz. I wonder where the flowers is?--Pogo or Ogden Nash or whomever you choose to believe said it first.

It's nice right now, but the temp is going to stay pretty much right where it is now (53F) all day.

My aching back! I knew yesterday when I'd had enough and it was time to quit, but there was just this one thing, that that one other thing, then...I didn't quit. I did sleep the sleep of the innocent last night though.

@NotCompSavy Thank you! What subject are you going to mentor me on? And when will we know that it's time to go live on Instagram or TikTok?

Oh, and don't you get it? You ARE the mentor to all us gardener wannabees. 🐝

Good Morning, Everyone 🤗 🌻 :coffee:

I woke a bit late this morning and am slow getting started. But my coffee is delicious and husband is off work again. :)

It is a beautiful day today and I'm thinking I might take a scooter ride with husband.

I took a day off my calorie counting yesterday and made the banana nut pancakes I've been craving. I'm thinking of switching to the Paleo or Mediterranean diet - need to research.

Listening to the new Hunger Games book, "Sunrise on the Reaping," and really enjoying it.

Hoping everyone woke feeling well this day.
That's funny. I'm on a break from calorie counting while the Grands are here and we made banana bread! It was fabulous.
BTW I think calorie counting gets tedious but it's a great tool to get on track.

@hearlady Nonono! I don't wanna be a mentor. I wanna be a mentee. And my gardening method is called either the seat-of-the-pants method or the by-guess-and-by-golly method. If it dies, it's either bugs or bad soil. If it thrives, it's because the bugs don't like it or the soil is good. It's all very scientific and technical:ROFLMAO:

My early walk at 6:50 temp was 46 as I went around the building once before breakfast
I never know when I'll get a phone call from Marcia about dog sitting, my 'buddy boy' Tage,of late I've been with him almost every wk. Yesterday she called, I told her I had no plans for today, she's picking me up at 11:15. She'll be gone for a couple of hrs, perfect way to start the 1st day of spring
When I get back, read today's NYT, then having dinner in dining room at 5:30 with couple of friends
