I don't like Jiffy cornbread mix

It's too sweet. I prefer a more savory style cornbread. When I make it I put a little sugar, but also shredded cheese, herbs and spices. It would not be to everyone's taste, but that's the way I like it. I remember when Jiffy put out a whole assortment of baking mixes, now I only see corn muffin and blueberry muffin mix in the store.

I prefer lightly sweetened cornbread so Jiffy is fine for me. When I worked in Arkansas many years ago, I learned to enjoy sugarless cornbread which is what most cafes in the area served at that time.

I've been buying this brand at Kroger:
shopping
I think it's delicious, very soft and just a tiny bit sweet.

Jiffy doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is.

I’ve used it with good results and I also used the cake mixes when they were available.

I prefer scratch corn bread, no sugar.

These days it’s easier and more cost effective to keep a few pouches of various mixes on the emergency shelf as opposed to stocking a full pantry.

One thing we can’t buy in any of the grocery stores here is corn bread mixes. I make my own but sometimes wish I could just throw together a mix. I liked the white corn bread mixes.

Adding: I have seen Bob’s Red Mill for $7. That’s too much for a dozen muffins.

Ahh cornbread..one of the things I miss most on my low carb diet. I made the mistake of using Jiffy corn bread mix one year in the Christmas dinner dressing...not good.

There are a lot of home made corn bread mixes on Google. Most have four cups of corn meal as base so quite a bit.

Well now that we have the cornbread, what are we going to have with it? I always have mine with white navy beans. I think Twostep's bacon cornbread would be excellent with them.

I agree, I don't like Jiffy either for being too sweet. Here's my favorite:

Although they sell a lot of other Krusteaz stuff around here, I can't find this so I have to order it online.

Pinto beans with a ham hock, greens and ham, country ribs, chilli, ... . or plain ice old milk to dip it in.
