Basically, it's sin

and, as John says

Sin is the transgression of the law

you know, those two tablets of stone

love God
Love your fellow man

Thing is, keeping these laws to the letter is not enough
One must keep them in your heart

obeying to the letter would be like your mate saying 'I don't commit adultery because the law says not to'

but, to keep the law in our heat, out of love for our mate

Yes, it has been said that when you hear thunder, it's just God bowling. It's actually good and evil balancing things out. Nothing to worry about though.
 

The Angry usually get themselves mired into some kind of War somewhere!
I remember the Speeches gave, then there are more! Sending the boys over thar always gets it going.
Couple of tussles and it usually quiets them angers some!

the screwtape letters this originally was a book written by CS Lewis UK author - it's essentially about the domain of the devil and how he uses many people on earth to sow seeds of doubt and malpractice - written in quite an easy readable form an there are various U-tube expose!!

I don't believe in sin. I think sin is a made up notion by religion to keep in line with church agenda. However, from my own experience there were instances in which I treated people wrongly and by my own tools of wisdom I made amends to though people and forgave myself for doing these things. I am free from what you term as sin because I choose to live a pure life. I'm saying people don't need a savior when they can forgive themselves. You have to be completely honest with yourself though or else it won't work. Once you come to terms with yourself the past in the past and has no bearing on the present, unless you prefer living in the past.
 
For every 1000 steps backward caused by hate, greed, lust, there are forward's;

the masses? the people know the truth is different from the crazy shat of total lying crap.
American society no longer trusts anything, thus they will fall prey to Conspiracy theory's on Internet chat threads like X, Truth Social, etc.
There no longer is any truth in American Society, there is family experiences thus the rest is bs. That a fact.

where does love and compassion come from because there is plenty around if you look carefully? ; and then where does hate and selfishness and greed come from ?? - well all religions have the answers from Hinduism to Judaism to Christianity ; to Buddhism etc etc etc - does it always seem to be a fight between the two sides??
 
but I agree there is a lot of hate in the world [take right now for example] and certainly a smattering of love maybe but I wonder what the proportions are - maybe if there is a God and he did create us in his image - just maybe he thought it might be a bit boring with just love love love all the time??

He has not been able to do that. He never will, but you can't blame him for trying. Sometimes we listen to Satan more then we listen to God.

But God has us, unless you don't believe. He has us, we are his children and he will watch over us. You have only to believe, really believe, not just say the words or confess at an alter call. Really believe. Either you do, will or can't. Can't fake it. Don't utter words, don't convince yourself. Either you believe or you do not. Don't believe, good....................question, search the bible. Look for points that justify your position. Look for points that oppose your beliefs. But look, really look. No magic here. Just searching your soul, being honest with yourself and then confronting yourself. Not others...........yourself.
God wants you, without conditions. Either you agree or you don't. In which case find your own way with friends and family.

I don’t believe in sin but evil does exist in the world. Unlike god’s judgement I believe people are held accountable for their thoughts and actions by karma In congregation by people of like minds. No heaven or hell but if there is an afterlife it will be an accumulation of people with things and values of similar nature.

in truth I do not know but as far as I am concerned the Christian god or the devil does not exist.

I think there is ongoing battle to keep us from resorting to our base instincts. These are most commonly defined as being ego, lust, greed, and anger. We live in a community, and increasingly over the decades that community has grown larger. Yet selfishness and other human traits have come to divide us. And, it's pretty much innate in all of us.

Evil Spirits are real. But they have no desire to attack the unbelievers so unbelievers think they don't exist. Evil Spirits only focus their spiritual attacks on the believers...of course. Believers are the ones the Evil Spirits want to take down, hoping to weaken them, hoping that they will think God has abandoned them. Hoping to win them over. Causing them to question. And using every Evil trick in their book.

God will allow this test of the believer's faith for a time but He will rescue the steadfast believers in His perfect time. He makes all things beautiful in His time. He is teaching the believers and showing them His way. How do I know? It's personal.
 
In the 1500s, Christians put to death "witches" for their witchcraft. Those Christians believed they were doing "good" by ridding the world of witches, and by their deaths, witches could enter heaven. Yet, if you were accused of witchcraft, that would not be considered "good". An act between people is a fact, like the burning of witches, it's neither "good" nor "evil". It's just "is". People have to determine what's "good" or "evil". There really is no "good' or "evil", but peoples' value judgements.

No god does exist, not only the Christian god. People have a moral compass, they don't need any religion to tell them what is wrong. Even the other animals like deer don't fight until one of the opponents is dead.
