Do you like feta cheese

I like goats milk feta cheese. I like it in Greek salad. It IS fairly salty. Some brands are saltier than others. It definitely DOES smell. It’s a smell you have to get accustomed to.

I really like it in salads also ! It reminds me a little of blue cheese , which I also like. I like most cheeses, but tried Limburger once many years ago, and just could not get past the smell. I think that it really didn’t taste all that bad, but the smell stopped me from actually tasting it less enough to be sure.

I sometimes get the block of feta cheese from Sam’s Club, but I found that it was hard for me to use the whole block before it got too old and didn’t taste good to me anymore. Usually I just get the already crumbled smaller packages now.

I can’t handle blue cheese. To me I always look at it as cheese gone bad. Lol ! And essentially that’s what it is. Like yourself, I used to get the big brick of feta cheese but I also found it went bad before I finished it. Now, I also buy the smaller pieces in a smaller amount.

With all the brands of Feta I’ve bought, I’ve never noticed an odour. Mostly I buy it from Costco, store a portion in the fridge and freeze the rest. I break off chunks when I need more for the fridge.

It’s Greek Salad season soon so I’ll be using lots. In the winter I sometimes sprinkle some crumbled feta on a tossed salad or on the top of homemade pizza.

Love it in a tossed green salad , it makes the salad come alive ….i don’t ever buy packaged stuff ..I buy the amount I want at the supermarket …deli department ….( only buy danish brand ) in winter I’ll also use it in my homemade silverbert ( spinach ) pasties it’s got a delicious salty / creamy taste.
Aldi and WW also have it marinated in tubs (y)(y)

Just adding a bit after reading Deb’s post …to me ~ feta has …not ….got a strong …smell .

Copied this …
Good quality feta should have aromas of ewe's milk, butter, and yogurt. However, if it smells acrid, overly sour, or like spoiled milk,….. it is likely spoiled.:sick:
