Reflections of My Life

Not all ailments show on the outside. Sonny has heart issues and does not have the place card hanging from the mirror but has a handicap license plate instead. If someone starts to question him parking in a handicap spot he just points to his plate.
In the UK we have Disabled blue badges which those with mobility issues place on the dashboard of their car when they park in a disability space.. and all or most parking is free for disabled badge holders, but if they're not physically disabled, often people will accuse them of faking.

This is the church where Pappy & Thelma were married. Still here and looking good. On Wednesday, (after Memorial Day, I think) they offer free lunches to everyone. Sometimes it is hot dogs grilled outside and free drinks. To anyone who shows up. They will even urge you take two. Also they have a food pantry there. Very short walk from my building.

thanks looks nice - interesting but sad story of your move from the countryside to the town?

Sad when I look back but in realty, it was the best thing for me. Now I have friends. I can afford food (Yah! ) and I am fairly independent. Conveniences! Having to wash my clothes in tubs of cold water (ice cold from the well and it would take hours to warm up so I did not wait). Somethings I liked doing. Such as cooking on my beautiful (to me) wood cook stove. Working in my garden with my cats keeping me company. Canning food was hard work but I loved filling my shelves with the jars. Spending time with my beautiful horse, Georgie Girl.

I really like living here. Love my apartment! I do not want to ever leave here. That is why I put up with the things that are not good about it. Once I step inside my door it is my sanctuary. Just mine.

looks snazzy to me! - yea I get the flat move ok - just been lookin at a site that lists lots of retired actors and many live on ranches but obviously have monies and hired help!!

Sun is out though a bit cool so far. I will be taking a walk out to the dumpster for sure. Then I can scope out the laundry room to see if it is busy. If so, I can wait till a later time. Sunday is normally a day people are out. Not doing laundry. For now I am having coffee and writing a new blog post. The writing is done. Now working on photos. If I finish this one this morning, I will start a second one. I like to write and complete a post then set it to publish automatically at another time.

Rabbit & my mornings here:

Today I got a lot of activity in (for me)! I took a walk. Outside. Not that far but farther than the dumpster. It was sunny and felt good outside. Then I did one load of laundry. I sat in the laundry room and waited for my machines to get done. I brought my coloring book and gel pens, my water & my mp3 player to keep me company. It was good to be out of my apartment and also to be by myself down there.

One of the younger guys stopped in to see where the music was coming from. Of course, I was in a Led Zeppelin mood (when am I not?) and I don't know if he knew who they were or not. After my laundry was dry I came upstairs and put it away. Had Chocolate Malt keto ice cream for my 1st meal of the day (which is actually a meal replacement shake made into ice cream........so a very healthy meal). Now for my supper (or 2nd meal of the day) I am cooking a ribeye. Smells good and I am hungry now.

Looks like we are going to have a nice day.......sunny! I plan on getting outside for sure. Sometimes just sitting in the sun in the park is so calming watching the traffic and people. I have to make an effort every day to not let my knees hold me back or keep me from walking. I really should do the rest of my laundry today. Bedding, towels & Rabbit's blanket, towel & pads. I might not have another day this nice this week and I can save laundry for a rainy day.

Walking the hall is not quite the same as being outside! :) My hall has been fairly quiet since that woman (the one who was in the fight) left the apartment next door. My neighbor and her son are still there but they are not loud (even though she has a very loud voice) and no fighting. At the most the dog barks but that never bothers me. Listening to people fight (or whining and complaining) creates a feeling of negativity around here.

They had an outdoor cook-out on Saturday and looks like they had a nice group of people. I do not go to those because people are smoking and I cannot stand being around it even for a few minutes. Makes me feel sick. It is bad enough for me having to walk past that area to get to the dumpster. That is why I cannot keep my windows open for too long during the day. The smoke drifts up here.

Making more Keto Chow now for ice cream for this week.

Yesterday Sonny got a call to come to the post office. Something to do with a package. So he goes and they ask him to come in the back to a small office. There are two guys sitting there in suits. They had in their possession two envelopes which were sent through the mail by him. He looked at them and they were 2 Christmas cards he sent out to people in a group he belongs to on FB. They wanted to know where he got the stamps????? He bought them at the post office. In fact, he brought the cards to the post office the day he bought the stamps and mailed them at the same time.

The stamps were counterfeit! How would he know? They said they had confiscated envelopes with hundreds of counterfeit stamps in them. Well he did not get arrested or anything like that. But two of his cards did not get mailed out. He sent them out in December before Christmas. So he was calling those two people to let them know why they did not receive his card this year. This could only happen to Sonny!

Here is a picture of my Daddy & me to honor his birthday today. He was an outdoors type of man. He passed away in 2012 at 93 years old. I learned so much from him. The time I spent with him is some of the best memories of my life.

After my parents became grandparents, my mother became obsessed by her grandchildren. I did not know her! She was completely different with them. They could do anything they wanted and she would let them. She would even stick up for them when they did things they shouldn't have. Of course, with my son, I was his parent and after I got married my husband adopted him. So we didn't need anyone to babysit him unless we were going away somewhere. My brother and his wife would leave his kids with my parents as soon as school got out for the summer and pick them up the day before school started in the fall. He should not have had any children.

My niece made my father's last years after my mother died h*** on earth. But he would not take any steps to keep her away. He felt he had to do whatever she wanted because of my mother. Said he was doing what my mother would have wanted.

Kat thanks for sharing that photo with us, you were a cute little girl and your father was certainly nice looking. I'm glad you had good memories.

Interesting about your brother's child and how your mother completely went berserk over her grandchildren; a lot of grandmothers do, but I'm sorry to hear that the niece really bothered your dad,,,, it's not fair is it.

Well I was floored when you told the story about the suits coming to see Sonny about the counterfeit stamps, I'm thinking two little postage stamps causing such a problem but I guess they discovered lots and lots of them. Well I'm glad he didn't get arrested or anything he's certainly an innocent person but how strange is that huh? well I'm glad it's over with.

Goodnight ☺️ 💤

This morning I was supposed to call Sonny at 7 to wake him up because he was going to take me to my foot doctor's appointment. I looked at my calendar and saw I was wrong about the appointment. It is for tomorrow not today. I left a message on his voice mail and on messenger not wanting to wake him up. Just a few minutes ago he called me. Didn't get my messages but called me to tell me he was awake. I think he might have been happy to know that he could go back to sleep and we will do it tomorrow.

I have gone through so many different coffee makers since living here. I have tried them all trying to get a decent cup of coffee. Finally I have settled on using the pods. The measuring is done for me and it is the perfect amount. The last one was the first pod machine I had. It was a cheap brand but I did get good coffee from it. But right from the start the cleaning button would not turn off. I would clean it and it would still blink. The reservoir was on the top and not removable. It was a skinny box I had to pour the water into. This last week I had to play with it to get my cup of coffee.

Yesterday I got a new one that I ordered on Monday and it was delivered yesterday. What a great cup of coffee! It is a name brand, Keurig one cup machine. It is compact and fits on my counter perfectly. What I really like about it (other than the coffee is great! Way better than the other machine!) is the reservoir is removable and clear. It is on the back and I was able to fill it up last night for today's coffee. Made my morning so much easier.

Getting my 2nd cup now...................

I must say...........I am loving my new coffee maker! It is everything they said it was.

Last night I did move the (new to me) "Jazzy Too" into my bathroom. I did not want to keep it there but that is the only available place and easy to get it out spot. It turns on so no problem moving it when I use the shower. Which I will be doing soon so I shall see. I think we are not supposed to leave things in our hall or entrance ways that would hinder the emergency squad if they were needed. So I did not feel I should keep it outside my apartment.

Today is my foot doctor appointment. It is close enough that I have walked to it in the past. Can't walk that far presently. Sonny is going to take me so not worried about getting there.

Good morning to the other co-hostess with the mostess. 🥰 We have a Keurig. My DH likes cafe con leche pods. I do too!
Doesn't cafe con leche pods have other ingredients besides coffee? Sweeteners?

Which coffeemaker did you finally settle on?

I remember that you used to have a pod machine.

I’ve been living with instant but I need to get back to real coffee.

It is this one bought on Amazon.

Keurig K-Express Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Maker, 3 Brew Sizes, Strong Button Feature, 42oz Removable Reservoir, Black

The reservoir is on the back. I can fill it up instead of filling it for one cup at a time. Another thing I like is the reservoir is removable and clear. So I can see how much water is in it.

Thanks, kat.

I’ll check it out!

How is the new Jazzy working out for you @katlupe? I’m familiar with them, as a few people around my apartments have them.

They can go fast! … especially when the guys want to drag race with each other on the sidewalk. lol. ..boys will be boys

Do they have posted speed limits for the boys?😁

Or would that simply be seen as a dare, by them?😉😊😄

I hope your foot Dr appointment went well, katlupe. 🥰

It's good. I miss mine but this one is a good replacement while mine is being fixed. I consider the mobility chair my car since I don't have one.
