Went to the funeral home this morning with the Spousal Equivalent's sister-in-law to finalize the funeral arrangements on Monday.

We went over the statement and it was nickel-and-dime-you-to-death day. It came to a lot more than she had planned.

The S.E. went into another room with the director to have "a little talk" and voila! suddenly almost $3000 disappeared from the statement. Had this "little talk" not occurred, they would have blithely charged her the full amount. They count on this.

I know it's a business, but I sure wouldn't want to be in a business that took advantage of people at their most vulnerable moments. You expect this sort of tactics from car salesmen, but.....

So, one day there will be constant eternally glowing coals and the Dead Past will just get tossed.
Every thing been said over the past 80 years or more.

Ugh!
We had a big storm last night with tornado warnings. I spent about an hour in my bathroom taking cover. Luckily, a tornado didn’t hit here but the storm knocked down a tree, which pulled down many power lines and my entire community is without internet.
What a boring day I’ve had without internet!
The crews to fix the lines won’t be out to fix it until Monday so I probably won’t have internet until Tuesday😭

5000 or more homes were badly damaged in the Clayton Area of west St. Louis.
Alot of the homes were brick and lots of piles there are of loose bricks.
I was in the reduced 75 MPH+ winds in Illinois Just across the river. Whew!

Bought a dishwasher from a local store. All places had the same price so we chose local rather than earning some loyalty points from a bigger store. Also, they didn’t try to sell us the extended warranty which the big box is notorious for.

Monday is a holiday here so we thought installation wouldn’t happen for a few days after that. The installer called at noon and was here by one. Instead of taking the 1 to 1.5 hours it was 3.5 hours. He fixed the previous plumber’s mistakes. He only charged us the extra for the supplies he had to buy. He was then heading out to do a big job. What a great worker.

Hi, kids. Happy Sunday.

Our next door neighbors are having a graduation party for their younger son today...how can that be? I "met" him when he was just weeks old, and we all know that I'm not old enough for him to be finishing high school already ;)

There's a little garden maintenance that needs to be done this morning before it gets too hot, party this afternoon. And today might be the day the a/c gets turned on.

What's everybody else up to?

This seems to happen with so many things, like insurance companies doubling the premium without circumstances having changed - you phone them up and they reduce it to the old rate 'as a favour' i.e. the favour of not robbing you. Likewise Micro$oft 365 increasing the price to pay for AI that nobody asked for. You can reduce to the previous amount, but you have to do it specifically, otherwise they'll charge the higher rate.

I'm still sorting out the photos as yesterday. One picture, taken some time in the late 1970s, was of a parish church in the very south-western corner of London, not a well-known building and quite out of the way - and it just so happens that I visited that very same church last weekend on a vintage bus tour.St Mary the Virgin Chessington 1978.jpg

that's nothing... the children who I met when they were just weeks old and watched grow..next door... now have children who have children of their own... how did THAT happen...

I don't know about "sticks" but I sometimes use USB Tethering which lets my PC use my phone plan's data.

In a very recent storm however both my cable Internet and phone Internet failed at the same time. Only for about 10 minutes, but I was surprised to lose both.

Oh I hope it's not a tear, Holly. why can't we do anything without hurting ourselves these days?!

Glad you're sounding better, Pepper. I was worried about you last week. While you were suffering from extreme anxiety I was having anger issues. I'm sure my means of death will be an anger/stroke. It's a physical thing I inherited from my father. The older we get the more vulnerable our brains seem to be to the stressors around us.

Della, I have a fear of dying while angry and cursing, using my favorite F word. I don't want that, but it is a great fear. I want to go with love.

When I was having panic attacks they weren't about suffocation or anything like that. No pains, etc. and it was frustrating having "medicine" always jump to conclusions about heart issues. I didn't have any fear or anger issues, these just seemed to be triggered out of the blue.

I kept getting wired up for EKGs but they never found any suggestion of anything like a heart attack.

But what I felt instead was just a very heavy ongoing feeling of unspecified doom. The attacks were a black cloud where I was sure I was going to die and I had no reason why I felt that way. I did have the notion that if I fell asleep I'd stop breathing. Trying to stay awake, pacing, standing outdoors out in the back yard listening to the radio or recorded podcasts... anything to gut it out until it passed.

Doc put me on Escitalopram 5mg (low dose) once/day and the issue is gone. I did have one week in March when something threatened to bring symptoms on again so I supplemented with tiny doses (1/4 of a tablet or even 1/8) of Xanax that I keep on hand. Aside from that one bad week though, it has been just over 18 months without symptoms.

Morning early birds....I'm late for getting up today, last eve about 330 or so the spectrum tv/internet/wireless all went
down, crooks cut the line it seems, spectrum is offering 25K to
find them....sunny and 57deg F out there, possible heavy rains,
tornados later today, into monday, Happy Sunday!!! ;)

Gosh. DD and I were just sitting on her patio admiring the flowers when lightning and thunder chased us back inside. It's supposed to be over in less than an hour but start back up again just about the time neighbor's grad party starts. They have a huge canopy that should accommodate 50-60 people, but still...not fair:(.

I didn't get a chance to do the maintenance thing in the garden. Maybe later. Meanwhile, I really should vacuum, maybe even...wait for it...dust. It's only been since Easter that I dusted last so maybe rushing it?
