Happy Friday, May 30th, my friends!

Toasty, breezy weather today and tomorrow. 95° for both days, so 15° warmer than yesterday. It'll cool down Sunday and be nice throughout next week, with highs ranging from 73-82°, but a fat lot of good that'll do me today and tomorrow.

I woke up around 4:30 not feeling well. Soon realized more sleep wasn't happening so I got up and opened the house to draw in the cooler overnight air. By 8 AM it will be warmer out than in, so I'll be closing it back up. 😓

I'm scheduled for an upper GI tract endoscopy (esophagus through duodenum) next week, which may shed some light on the pain. Best case would be a GERD diagnosis - it's the least serious and most easily treated condition. Fingers crossed and a few prayers being sent up on that one. If GERD is ruled out, my doc will order tests investigating other possibilities.

Littlest grandson comes today. (Yay!) At only 15 months, he still takes a couple of daytime naps. With any luck I'll join him for at least one.

Hope all have a lovely day!

My endoscopy revealed I have a hernia, @StarSong. No pain, but I have no appetite. I think I do feel some discomfort, but don't I always? The hernia seems to be the reason for my anemia, and I think it's also the cause of my weight loss. I'm actually skinny! most parts of me anyway, not all.

Hope you can get to origins of your pain. You know I always wish you well! 🤗

My appetite is pretty much unchanged - my weight is remarkably stable. Other than pregnancies and menopause (and the antidepressants I took for menopause, which packed on the pounds), my weight has remained within an 8 lb range from my late teens until now.

Thank you for your good wishes.

You mean a Hiatus Hernia...

I've had one for years... have to take Lansoprazole every morning.... can't eat spices, or acids...

After quiet weekdays, late morning will make a 3.7 mile drive to a Walmart Supermarket stocking up on food/drink for this weekend. Otherwise today will be quiet as I wait for a much more interesting weekend of outdoor street music and dancing.

For rock fans, 10am today tickets go on general public sale for the huge 3-day Dead & Company August 1,2,3 shows at the Polo Field in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. 3-day lowest cost tickets have been $671 and 1-day will be $245. For someone that used to walk to Filmore West on Market Street and pay $7 to get in as much as 5 nights each week to see 2 to 4 each night world-class touring Classic Rock bands... NO won't be joining all the dominantly working young people that fork over such amounts for all these recent music festivals.

The cost of these festivals is bad enough but inevitably, they always have massive much higher priced seating near the stages so lower priced tickets end up far away. IMO, the real rock concert experience does not have seating near whatever stage and rather is free standing room like it was here during all the late 1960s thru 1970s. Instead most weekends in this SF Bay Area before mid summer heat sets in, there are plenty of free or low fee entry outdoor street events, with outdoor music one can always get close to stages at.

This weekend's example of why being a senior here in this large urban region can be much fun.

my Saturday:
San Mateo County Fair Daily Schedules

my Sunday:
Union Street Festival 2025 (May 31-June 1)

What are the symptoms, HD and @Pepper ? Heartburn, indigestion, that kind of thing? I only have pain, no feeling of fullness, heartburn or indigestion.
yes hearburn..often severe indigestion ... which sometimes is mistaken for a heart attack....

Acid reflux all the time unless treated by PPi's ( proton Pump inhibitors )...which is what I have to take on a daily basis.. it doesn't stop the Gerd completely , just minimises it.... diet is restrictive.. acids, fats..pickles, vinegars, smoked anything... overeating.. are the main causes..of the heartburn

Hey doll try sipping a lil diet 7-up for that tummy.

Called for a Monday appointment for car service. Routine except for a "check engine" emission control warning I'm having them look at. I'd driven about half an hour, got groceries, and restarting the notification came on. Drove back but I saw nothing unusual in terms of performance, mileage, noises, and there were no odd smells. Perhaps a bad sensor.

They seem to have gotten rid of their courtesy vans. Now if you need rides they pay for Uber.

right: Trees growing on slopes are difficult to prune and to maintain, so I cut them. Look at the stump in the center of the
picture. When I cut that one, I rolled down the slope and hit the rocks. At 89, maybe I should let professionals do this work.

At 72, my wife just retired from her teaching job. I bought her the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid on the left as retire present. Now I hope
she will dedicate her life to maintaining her extensive flower and vegetable gardens which are in need of some attention.

right: Squirrels damaged our drip irrigation hoses by chewing on them. They even dug into our chicken coop to steal chicken food. I had
enough and set up traps. I immediately caught two adults and three juveniles that I release a mile away in the wilderness. The 2008 Toyota
Yaris car on the right belongs to my older daughter who has been working in China since 2011. In July she will come home permanently
to study fulltime for her M.A. degree. She also wants to become a teacher like her parents, while my younger daughter became a RN nurse.
