Are you set in your ways?

So whats your first world problem lately. Im slowly realizing that the older I get the more resistant I am to change.
I have no desire to be spontaneous. A boring life suits me just fine. Although I can be tempted sometimes with a shiny new tool. :D

Prime example. My existing cable people offered me a deal. Got a big reduction on my bill and new whizbang cable boxes. Faster internet and some free stuff. I was happy. Until. I realized. Theres no time on the front of the new boxes. Im resourceful. I can deal. Plugged in a clock and set it on top.
Power twitched. Darn clock is flashing now.

I am not happy. Im going thru withdrawal. Old boxes always had the correct time. Dont want to deal with setting clocks.
We dont lose power here but for some reason it twitches. I guess I will be ordering battery clocks.

I can totally relate to this. Things like this happen a lot for me. :D

I have become fairly set in my ways. I have a daily routine and don't like when it's disrupted. I do things a certain way. If it's done different it bout makes me lose my mind. LOL!

My priorities have changed some too. Sometimes I will choose rest over a sink full of dishes if it's called for.

Also very stubborn about accepting help unless I absolutely have to.

I function best with a routine and am comfortable in my "ways" but not sure I'm "set" in my ways. If I want to do something different I do it without hesitation, I believe I'm adaptable as long as it's my decision.

I think where I struggle is someone else forcing change to my routine. A for instance would be something like this....I eat lunch as close to noon as possible, if a friend's call and wants help I'm going to want to be done helping by noon or start after noon and I've finished eaten. But if the friends wants help at 11A.M. and it's going to take a couple of hours I'm a bit put out, I'll still help but I'm bringing a snack so I don't starve. lol

I'm okay with change if I see positives, otherwise, I'm not. I'm too scheduled about rising and going to bed at the same time every day, and meals at approximately the same time. If I have a list of things I expect to get done, I become dissatisfied with myself if I don't finish. If I'm going to go somewhere very far from home, I need to be in the right mindset for it in advance. I don't like spontaneously jumping in the car and taking off. I'm hard to live with due to my inflexibilities.

I hate routine.. hate it... the only exact routine I do have is the morning shower and teeth brushing, ...so I would say no, not set in my ways in that generic sense of old people having to do stuff on the same day of the week, at the same time of the day etc..

Like @C50 ..I will do anything out of the ordinary at the drop of a hat.... and do... like today, I hadn't decided I was going to do it, but because I went to get something from the barn and noticed an item still in it's box that needs assembled I spent 2 hours with a power drill in hand , building it... and that is very typical of my kind of day....

All that said..I do now... at 70,,, find myself putting things off.. that I would have done without a second thought

..before, until relatively recently.. I thought nothing of jumping in the car and driving 40 or 50 miles for the smallest reason..pick something up.. visit someone... go visit an attraction.. just on a whim... hardly ever do that now, I feel it just is too much to be bothered with the traffic etc..,, so I have to really try and pull myself out of that... ...

I have always loved being spontaneous. If I don’t have anything planned or just plan to do something boring like clean the house and someone asked me to do something fun I drop everything and do it. I figure the boring stuff will always be there and wait for another day

I have never been that spontaneous even when young. I dont like to be surprised.
I prefer visitors give prior notice. Preferably a day ahead. And no random road trips for me.
Im not one to rearrange my furniture frequently. Come back in ten and everything will probably look mostly the same. "D

Maybe Im not as set in my ways as I thought. I dont have a schedule. Dont have to do things in a certain time or order.
Although I positively hate having to do stuff first thing in the AM. I like to chill for a while first.
My set is that I become "attached" to some things. Not all just some. I can "reset" but its an inconvenience.
On the other hand I can be doing item one and see item two and my brain thinks I could paint item three green and turn it upside down and make a planter. :D

Agreed. Though that tomorrow was today. Weed-whacking (there's a lot involved with that one), edging, and cleanup. Mowing will wait till the dew dries up later this afternoon.

Have I said yet that I hate, HATE, HATE yard work?
OTOH, I absolutely don't mind maintaining my lawn equipment. Cases in point - sharpening mower blades and changing the oil in my zero-turn. I don't mind that at all, but I'd be less than honest if I didn't procrastinate once in a while. And yes, I track all this maintenance stuff with small engines and equipment on a spreadsheet.

But pruning bushes, hedges, and weed-whacking? Fuggedaboudit. (n)

I would say yes, at least somewhat but my friends would say, no. It's true I am spontaneous and love doing things that are new and different for the sake of the adventure alone. I'm definitely both and this can depend upon health too if I feel great I will go anywhere and do anything. If I'm having a health struggle I might prefer to stick to a routine.
