Made the impromptu decision to do laundry this morning around 9:30, much later than I usually go down there. HS#3 was doing his laundry when he called me. When he said nobody was down there, I said it's best to get it done because scorching hot weather is coming again. This evening I had to fiddle with my phone, first because my clock widget disappeared, I couldn't find it and had to download another (tried a few before finding one I liked).

Then I realized that my apps had changed from dark mode back to light, so I had to figure out how to correct that. I swear these devices have minds of their own! HS#3 was a guest on a fellow actor's podcast so I spent almost an hour and a half watching that. It was only supposed to be an hour but there were technical difficulties three times.

Sunny morning but nice and cool at 07.50am... 58 deg... got the windows open, 76 deg forecast for later...

I went to be last night at 10pm... I was so tired after so little sleep all week... I woke up at 2.30am.. but I refused to get up and then slept fitfully until 5.30am...

Might go out later , I'll see how I feel....

Have a super day folks.... 🌞 🌞 🌞

I was sitting at my kitchen table yesterday and I heard a crash. It sounded like my neighbors trash can had been thrown (?).
I looked and wasn't sure but then heard screaming. I ran out and a golf cart was turned over in the middle of the road that two teenage girls had been riding. One was hurt. As I was assessing the situation the girl that was not hurt walked off. I guessed she went home for help. My first reaction was to calm the hurt girl and get her situated. Neighbors started coming out and my husband caught up. I ran back in the house and grabbed rag towels and a bucket of water.
She had a major case of road rash on one leg. Other cuts and bangs too. Her ankle had a gash that was to the bone. I calmly asked her where she wanted me to lay the towels as I lightly covered the gash that was obviously freaking her out. She showed me the places where she wanted me to place a towel. That was keeping her mind occupied.
By that time an ambulance had been called and her Mom. The other girl with her Grandma that owned the cart came back.
The hurt girl was scared of being in trouble. We all assured her she wouldn't be and when the Mom arrived my husband took her aside and told her she was worried just in case the Mom was going to prove us wrong. But, of course, the Mom was just concerned about her daughter.
The ambulance came and I know that when all settles down there will be some trouble for those girls as they've been warned by more then one neighbor to slow down on that cart. It is a very nice one and they blast music and joy ride. Sorry they're Fourth holiday is ruined and they'll be suffering a hard lesson.
Unfortunately for Grandma, the girl that was driving was not supposed to be as she was too young and not on the insurance. I think her granddaughter let her drive without the Grandmas knowledge and that's why the girl left the scene. She was freaking out about what she'd done. One good thing she did was she had lifted the golf cart by herself off the girls leg before I even got there.
So, excitement in the neighborhood but not the kind you want. I thought about them all night.

It's gonna be another nice day, hot and sunny with no rain to be seen, and expected to be that way over the entire holiday weekend.

@hollydolly Glad that you're finally getting a respite from the heat.

Laundry today and a few garden chores.

Okay, then, after I've all but groveled for a mentor so that I can be mented, I'm giving up and going it alone. Nobody wants to unlock my potential? Fine.
Granted, at my (somewhat advanced) age, I'm a little late to the party, but apparently nobody mentored Grandma Moses, either, and lookit what she accomplished even though she didn't start painting until in her late 70s and lived until she was 101.

What I know for sure is that I'm not gonna be a plumber or an artist. Maybe an auto mechanic? Yanno, I've got that certificate from the tech school. So it's from almost 50 years ago. So? How much can internal combustion engines have changed? When I finished, car dealers were standing in line to hire me.

It's gotta be a book. A best-seller and use an alias so that my fans won't smother me whenever I'm out and about like they did with Jessica Fletcher. IIRC, she was "older" when she wrote her first mystery novel. From my Creative Writing 101 class, I remember that all I need is a beginning, a middle and an end. The beginning has already been started: "It was a dark and stormy night."

The laundry awaits, and the birdbath needs to be filled when I'm in the garden. Time to gird my loins and sally forth.

Good morning, it is cloudy now but rain again later today. We seem to be in a rain pattern with lots of rain this week-end in the forecast.

@hollydolly Good news about your weather. Hopefully it will continue with cooler weather.

@hearlady That is quite a scare for you with the girls on the golf cart. You are so kind to have helped the girl. There are some young girls here that do the same with a golf cart, speeding and not watching for the traffic. I wish their parents would make them not be so careless. It seems more and more people are using these golf carts in our neighborhood. In fact, this 4th of July, here in the neighborhood, they are having a golf cart parade of all things.

Everyone have a great day. :)

morning all, on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 66,sun was peaking thru the clouds as I went around the building once before breakfast
This morning at 11, 2 other residents and myself are taking the Gates van to local grocery store,Wegmans need a couple of items

Right now it's foggy out, but I don't expect it to last. We are finally having a few days of hot, sunny, and DRY!!! Of course, that means it will be horribly humid, too.....always something!

My plans for the day are to leave for town early, beat the heat. The gym will be first. From there we need to stop at the insurance office, they messed up with our new car's policy. I have no errands to run, so I'm hoping to go to the library to scan the last of my Dad's Navy pictures.

I took some leftover 🍕 out of the freezer, so dinner will be waiting for us when we get home.

Time to go....bye!

I 70 west of St. Louis is a death trap. I 64 east is a death trap. Most every bridge is a death trap. Lots of exit entrance ramps are death traps. Most County roads have bad bridges due to overloaded grain hauling 18 wheelers. Need knowing that, what cha want to do? ... :coffee: ...
Perhaps this is true in your part of the country, but not mine.

I girded and sallied and started the laundry, watered the flowers, filled the birdbaths. Later this afternoon when the lawn is in shade, I might mow. Or maybe it can get mowed tomorrow. We'll see how I feel about it when the time comes.

Now I gotta fold all that blankety-blank laundry unless somebody wants to come over and do it for me.

Thursday, July 3rd. A nice day ahead, weather-wise, and not much on my schedule.

Roomba, bless its little battery heart, is busy working while I chill with you, my SF peeps. How lucky we are to live in a period when electronic helpers can manage some of the chores we dislike. Vacuuming hovers near the top of my list of detested household tasks, with dusting not too far behind.

Hope you all make your day a great one. Will check in with you later!

Well folkies, & peeps... it's been a strange day weatherwise. When I left home there wasn't a cloud in the sky, it was blue as can be.... when I got to my destination 30 miles or so north the sky was heavy with coulds.. but it couldn't make it's mind up..it was blue skies with heeavy cloud one minute then white clouds the next. However it was horribly humid, despite being 15 deg cooler than earlier this week

Anyway I visted 2 places all n my own... first I went to the Olde worle village shopping.. it's misnomer really it's only a little tiny place but it's cute in it's old fashioned way..... and then I went to wrest park.. to save me tellinng you about it's history... here's the link.

Wrest Park

..and here's some photos..... from wrest park

@hearlady, well done to you and your husband for keeping that little girl calm until her mother arrived.. I doubt those 2 will be playing on any golf carts in furture...

..your story is Ironic in that on my way home this afternoon... to get from Wrest park to the motorway, I have to drive through several villages which means country roads for about 10 miles first...
I;d just got behind a queue of traffic, when Sat-Nav told me there was a crash ahead, I could see cars a dozen in front of me doing 3 point turns to come back again... so I did the same , and turned another road, but got stuck down there which was only one car wide, behind everyone else who'd gone that way...ultimately it took over 2 hours from me just to cover the last 6 miles.

I have no idea what or who was involved in the crash, but while I was sitting idling in the queue of traffic on the little country road, The traffic news came on the BBC and warned everybody that because of this crash at Clophill where I was all roads were closed. I couldn't turn around and go anywhere else so I was stuck there in the heat no AC...

Anyway i hope the people involved weren't too badly injured but police and ambulances were flying by...

Gosh, when I see pics of formal gardens like that, I can't even imagine what it was like to design them hundreds of years ago, not to mention planting and maintaining them. They sure are pretty.
I read somewhere as I was walking around the grounds that the gardens were designed in the 17th century.. 1650'ish I think
