A Nice Walk ( with photos )

A walk this time of the year will bring you the delights of the new born foals. There are an estimated 5000 mares on the 94,000 acre New Forest National Park. They are not all in foal, but there could be as many as 1000 foals born during May and June in the foal season in the New Forest.
This time of year around where we live, you are likely to see young fawns ( baby deer ).

They stay with their mother for up to two years then get chased away to start their own family.

Yesterday we walked at the park. It was a sunny day and approximately 22 degrees Celsius.
Here is a picture of our company.IMG_9443.jpeg
We also had my brother in law visit us so he could see his father. He drove here via his Harley Davidson. It might be the last time he sees his father. It was bittersweet seeing everyone together. Happy that they are altogether, sad that it might be the last time.

Today we went into the city. We had some groceries to get. IMG_1129.jpegIMG_9445.jpeg
It is 20 degrees today and sunny. It’s a hazy sunny day so they are all going fishing this early evening.

Have a nice day.

Today we went into the city to go shopping and go for a walk. We had to shorten our walk due to my father in law getting bug spray in his eye. He sprayed his face with deet. Here’s a picture of my husband with his father.

The trail ahead of us.

We helped him get the deet out of his eye and then went to Walmart to get some things.
Now we are home eating fresh trout.

Today we walked around the Atlantic Coastline. It’s an hour walk which we did with our father in law. It was a 5 kilometre walk .
We met group groups of people; one male runner. 2 women walking and a woman and child.

We walked on the beach and picked up plastic netting. It’s left over from the lobster bait trapping and probably fell off the boat actually acidentally, so my husband picked it all up. He says too many animals get caught up or hurt from the plastic netting.

My husband and my father in law have been fishing. So far my father in law has caught 3 decent sized fish. One was 16 1/2 inches. When he caught it, he was like a kid in a candy store. He hadn’t fished for 40 years.
He had the biggest smile on his face.

Have a good day.

Today we walked along the old railroad track right beside the Atlantic Ocean. This is the last day our company is here. They are leaving tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. and going to Prince Edward Island.

We’ve been shortening our walks so my husband’s father can walk with us. He’s 85!
He’s been enjoying the walks so far.

I got some good pictures of the family.
My father in law has decided to go into a retirement home. Since the death of his wife he’s really has slipped and is now starting to notice.

I really like my father in law and wonder how much longer he’ll be with us.

Beautiful pictures, as always. What is in the background in the picture just before the one with, The Twirp?

Today we walked along the Atlantic Ocean trail again. This time of year it’s loaded with a large variety of wild flowers including daisies, buttercups, mornings glories, Jacobs ladder, Dog roses, lupins and irises just to name a few.

Today we needed to go into town so chose the forest/ school walk. It’s approximately 5 kilometres long. It starts on a baseball field
IMG_9549.jpeg
The path is very well tended to with wildflowers growing along the sides, mainly buttercups and dog rose.

This is the bridge leading to the school . There’s an outdoor theatre at the beginning of the walk from the school side. Today a colouring contest was advertised along the pathway which they have every summer. IMG_9561.jpeg
Have a great day.

This morning we went to the park and I was so engrossed in conversation that I forgot to take pictures but then after our walk there was all kinds of things to take photos of..
For one, the coast guard boat came by and parked in the channel. I took the picture with the suv parked close by to give a clear picture of the sheer size of it.

Here’s some more photos.

Heres a shot from the other side of the channel. There must have been something going on for the coastal guard to show up here. Maybe some smuggling. There’s a blow up speed boat at the back of the ship. It has 2 motors with 200 horse power engines each.
IMG_9588.jpeg

I stopped the suv to take a photo of the towns floral displays which are red bicycles with floral baskets and a huge display of hanging flowers. IMG_9592.jpeg
On the way home I took a picture of our Atlantic farmers who raise cows and sheep.

Have a great day!

Went on day trip to,the snow today

IMG_4441.jpegIMG_4443.jpegIMG_9572.jpeg
To,be totally honest i didn’t enjoy it at all ….it’s the first time I’ve seen snow ….its was freezing - 6 C …..

brrrr….no where to sit and have a coffee out of the wind ….heaps of steps ..no where warm to sit out of the freezing breeze ….luckily the bus driver was at the bus when we turned up 2.30 for a 4 pm departure …(/we arrived at 9 am.

most of the travelers were already on the bus anyway …. ( all but us were overseas tourists )

We was still delayed till 4 pm cause some of them were skiing but at least we was sorta warm ..I was so cold the driver a gave me a bed quilt to clean to cover my legs
