How neat are you?

I make my bed everyday, fill and empty the dishwasher daily, and get the floors cleaned once a week. Our house isnā€™t spotless. We have 2 dogs so you canā€™t eat off the floor but itā€™s far from a pig sty! My husband is quite helpful in helping keep the house clean. He helps clean the floors. Yesterday he was cleaning each floor tile by hand with a magic eraser. He does jobs like this while talking to his father long distance. Our place is fairly clean but not spotless.
 

I'm a real neat freak, but since getting older and battling health problems, it's not looking as clean no matter how much I try. I need to start buying newer things to replace the things that are looking old, dingy and faded. Nothing lasts forever and I'm just cheap. Next month I'm going to start replacing things and upgrading.

I used to completely clean the house each week; each room, but it really didn't need it, so I changed it to once each 3 weeks. But, everything has to be in it's place all the time, except for my own bathroom. I allow myself clutter for the sake of convenience (in that ONE room only).

I still remember a co-worker from years ago who spent every Saturday doing different phases of house cleaning. She had a rotating schedule on what week-ends to do what kind of cleaing, and she carried it to extremes I'd never heard of before. She removed light bulbs for individual dusting, used a toothbrush to go around dusting baseboards in each room, and completely dissasembled chandeliers periodically for deep cleaning - I forget what else.

And I knew another woman who lived nearby (she's now deceased) and she told me it was her rule that all guests remove their shoes when they came inside her home. We only talked on the phone instead of visiting. I once took her a birthday gift, but just talked with her at the door and handed it to her. I have no plans to remove my shoes to visit anyone.

To each his own but I have to have people take their shoes off. Ever since someone almost tracked human feces in. There is a homeless guy on my street and he poops everywhere. I even watched him poop on the side walk in broad daylight.

And that's fine, it's your house and your right. I won't hold your rules against you anymore than my friend's rules I wrote about. BUT - I don't think you were expecting me to show up at your house, so we won't have to deal with that little worry ...... :ROFLMAO:
 
Not as bad as I used to be when I had a Licensed Day Care in the home, That was for many obvious reasons:
State Licensing laws, health/safety of the children, reputation of my business and daily cleaning and taking care of things
is a valuable lesson for the kids.
Hubby's room is the only one I do not, and I mean not clean.
He has collections of a few things and no one dare to put one in the wrong place.
I will present a well kept clean home when visitors come. During their visit. I just enjoy them and overlook things
I may not otherwise. After they leave I have all the time in the world to clean it up.
so ehhhh.. life happens sort of housekeeper.

Now I'm going to have to do that!

I'm definitely a neat freak, I go through the house every morning make every bed, tidy every room, empty all waste baskets, unload the dishwasher -- then have coffee -- then do my once-a- week chore of the day (Wednesday bathrooms, Thursday dust and vacuum, etc.)

We all take off our shoes at the door but we wouldn't think of asking guests to do it.
