What kind physical environment do you thrive in?

A comment on another thread about preferring summer temps, running an AC instead of heat. Got me thinking about this.
When i was young i could make myself physically comfortable most anywhere, tho i did prefer some places over others. Various bodily changes have impacted that. For the last couple of decades i've done better in climates others would consider 'too cold' for 6 months of most years, with at least a month of moderate but fluctuating conditions at least 1 autumn and spring months (sometimes more) and short summers.

Curious what kind of climate others prefer, and if your preferences have changed over the years.

Humidity...can't do it well due to swelling in feet and legs. This past heat wave here has taught me prolonged extreme heat gives me headaches.
But since losing a bunch of weight a few years ago the cold gets to me too. So I chose the middle ground where I don't have half a year or more in any set weather pattern. I sure prefer fresh air over A/C and if I really had a wish it would be that sunrise was at 6:30am and sunset was at 8pm. Shorter day light hours, I really dislike that.

I'm a cool weather lover. I love the change of seasons & look forward to the cooler temps of the fall. I feel more motivated in cooler weather.

I haven't ever cared for heat & humidity, even as a kid. Several people my husband & I have worked with are either Snow Birds or sold everything to move to to Florida to be in the heat. Not us, I didn't like Florida heat even just to visit. If we go to the Virginia area or the Carolina's, we go in fall & winter to avoid the heat.

I can't work too long outside in the heat & if I do, it's for short periods. If I'm outside too long, you'll see me laying on the cement front porch with Gatorade in my hand trying to cool off. I'll get headaches & a little light headed. Nothing much got done outside this year & my flower beds are full of weeds.

This morning the temp has lowered & the dew point has gone down so we opened up the windows. Nice breezes coming into the house. So I hope the worse of heat is over with. Summer temps around 70F & very low dew points would be ideal for me.

My favourite sort of weather is warm with a breeze or a bright, chilly day is fine. I don't like extreme temperatures - very hot and humid or really cold temperatures. Humidity just makes you feel uncomfortable and tired and really cold weather makes your bones ache :(

My home is comfortable inside regardless of the weather, except for taking showers when it's cold. I don't like winter showers, even though I still do them. But, more than my self comfort, I get concerned in cold weather about water pipes freezing, or roads getting iced over so that I can't drive. I think summer works better for me.

Cold. I like it cold. I can heat to where I'm comfortable. Sleeping is easier.

Which is unfortunate, because my wife is warm. Warm without humidity.

Also, dark. My favorite time of year is when it's dark at 17:00. Worse time, when it's still light at 22:00. We're heading into the best time of year.

Yep, same for me what @VaughanJB said. Around 60-62(F) is perfect for me outside during the day, but colder at night is awesome... love it! And the early darkness... I've always loved that, too. Just feels more cozy cooking supper when it's dark or getting dark and then needing lights after the meal.

Listening to music is something that brings me great pleasure, and I've done a little research lately into why music sounds better at night. I thought it was just me, but turns out it's a common feeling. There is no definitive reason why this should be. But I'm not alone in thinking this way.

What do I like? Mostly open spaces, big "outdoor" presence, lots of trees, "mountain & valley" or at least rolling topography. Water (big creek, river, or lake nearby).

Not too cold (-20C-4F) winter, low humidity and not too hot (+32C/90F) summer (although it is getting hotter where I live). Breezes are nice in summer. If I have to settle on a perfect outdoor temp in the shade, it's probably 22C/72F, but one cannot possibly have that all through the months.😁

I lived in the Carolinas until I was 8, then lived in Central and South Florida until my early 40's. I prefer warmer weather but I also like a change of seasons. I never realized how much I missed them, and the changing color of the leaves, until I left South Florida and moved to Texas. I would much rather be surrounded by woods than the ocean.

Our summers are hot but no nearly as humid as Florida. Our winters are typically mild. The one year we had sub-zero temps for several days I thought I was going to go out of my mind, slip-sliding on ice. The shoulder seasons here are beautiful.

Tested locations to retire in. Hot & humid = No
Cold with snow & ice, depressing greyness of winter when trees lose their leaves & grass turns brown = No.

Climate where humidity rarely ever exceeds 10%. Temps vary where cold can get to 30 degrees over night or heat to 115 normally during July & August. Where green grass, trees flowers are year round = A choice we made & enjoy

Fall and Spring are my favorites. Best outside temp for me is 50-60. I can handle low 70 if no humidity.
I can start out wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt and a light jacket. Once I start working and get hot I can take the jacket off and still be comfortable.

I have never liked the heat even when I was young. I went into premature menopause after surgery.
I didnt get the hot flashes or any of that. My metabolism changed and now Im just hot all the time.
I was hoping that when I got older I would turn into one of those old ladies thats cold all the time.
No such luck. #sigh

I know what you mean about Florida. The husband booked us on a January cruise that left out of Florida.
He told everyone I whined about the heat the whole time. I am not cruise material. I dont swim. I hate being in the sun. And I dont gamble. Also just stopping over in Florida and I know I never want to move there. :D

My flower beds are full of weeds too. Theyre disgraceful. I just cant be outside. After 30-40 min the asthma kicks in and I cant breathe.
The heat gives me a headache and makes me light headed too. Its just me here. I figure I will get to them when I get to them.
As soon as it cools off I will be mulching everything to within an inch of their little flower lives. :D

I don't mind heat and humidity. If nothing else, that's what air conditioning is for.

I mind snow a whole lot. I do not think it is pretty ... after living in the Frozen North for 34 years. I super hate being cold, especially when I am clothed in a full length down filled super warm coat and super warm snowboots, etc, clomping around looking like a walking sleeping bag, and I am still cold.

The first winter I loved it; snow was a novelty. And the caretaker of our condos took care of snow removal.

I do not like driving in snow and ice. I decided a long time ago that people who love cold, snowy weather actually like doing things outside in winter. I can't grok that, although perhaps I would have if I'd learned to ski and ice skate while I was young. Meanwhile they complain about humid summers and I can't feel the humidity at all, so it's like heaven.

I don’t like the extremes of hot or cold, but my arthritis dictated years ago that I move further south.

I never thought southern middle Tennessee would be like the Amazon tropics, but this year it is and I am so glad when it will be over with. I do best when it’s 50-60° out, or if I have outside work to do 45° is fine too.
