Time certainly does fly Holly. Back in 2008, my wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. As a surprise I treated my lovely lady to another Birman cat, a breed that she loves.

Being our 40th the cat was named Ruby and as the month that we married was May, Ruby became known as Ruby-Mae.
It's often said that dogs have owners, whilst cats have staff. Ain't that the truth? Ruby had us round her paw from day one.
Our little Birman has been a feline friend for the last seventeen years.
As of late Ruby has been strangely unwell. Strange in that she seems to have some sort of feline dementia. We have been back and forth to the vet with her for the last few months. Today, at yet another vetinary appointment, all became clear, Ruby has a tumour, an inoperable tumour. We could choose a course of steroids but even if that delayed the inevitable it wouldn't give Ruby her quality of life.
The vet kindly left us alone with Ruby, we shed many tears, had one last long hug, took a copy of her paw prints and agreed to let Ruby have the lethal injection. It has been a tough day.
Ruby is the fourth Birman cat that we have had the privilege to share our home with. Our other three, that Ruby has now joined, are waiting for us at
Rainbow Bridge.

The ceramic pots that you see are the last resting places of those Birman cats. Each one has a rose, today another ceramic pot is there and the rose in the pot has a name. A name that reflects a treasured feline friend, it's called: "Precious Ruby."
