Today Show host 84 year old mom is missing in Arizona-'concerning circumstances'

I heard this on the noon news awhile ago. The mother is not senile or incompetent, so it's not likely she became confused and wandered off. Her life depends on taking the prescription medications that she did not have with her at the time of her disappearance.

The updates I've seen are saying it's a homicide investigation.. isn't clear why they're so sure it's a homicide.

I’ve been following this story.

Initially it wasn’t a criminal investigation. But now it is.

“Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters aspects of the scene at Nancy Guthrie's home caused "grave concern."

“This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene,” Nanos said.

At a news conference Monday, Nanos said there was a crime scene at Nancy Guthrie's home.

“We do in fact have a crime scene,” he said.

Nanos added there are signs at the home indicating Nancy Guthrie did not leave on her own”

Poor woman 😢

“She cannot walk more than 50 yards on her own and is reliant on life-saving medication, according to cops.

The hunt is a race against time because the missing woman needs medication, lack of which for 24 hours could prove fatal

I hope she is found safe.
if a ransom they should have asked for something by now unless those who took her did not know about medications and she did not make it.
my question is would another elderly person (without a famous kid) get this attention and has this attention made it worse not better to investigate?

Which leads to the question have there been similar cases in the area?

Nothing about this makes any sense. …. the K-9 search is on her property now..
Living alone, about 70 miles from the border in a remote area, brings up so many thoughts. (And only small percent of border is actually closed off at this point.)

She had cameras (all smashed) and work staff (not there that evening)
The smashed cameras-unless she had really common camera in common locations how would they know where and how many she had?

Starting to seem like an inside job. But the little blood they found doesn't seem like it's from a catastrophic injury or vigorous argument that turned into a fight.

The videos from the cameras would have been stored on a remote server, so there would be accessible records of what happened up until the point the cameras were smashed. I'm surprised the FBI hasn't released those videos to the public.
