My local service station received fuel delivery this morning.

For a customer, $3.00 a gallon in US in my state right here right now for lowest. Others in my city are right around that same range give or take a few cents.

States vary. We are always lower than places like CA, OR, others.

yes I know but I'm saying fuel is not £1.39 per litre at most places in the UK... a couple of weeks ago it was....

but not now.. and it sticks in the craw that our fuel has shot up so much in price when we're not even involved in this war...

CA here is on average right now about $5.65 a gallon where my state is $3. I'd say CA is usually one of the highest in the states. It can differ a lot between states.

Still not as high as the UK price and they typically are pretty high.

I'm one that doesn't walk politics in conversations and can see a bit of both sides of the coin with what is going on is all I will say.

Choices will affect that price one way or another most likely. By any and all.

But yes, that is a pretty high price.

My late, beloved uncle, who was a mechanic told me never to put gas in my car when the fuel truck was there filling up the pumps or shortly after. He said the reason was that the pressure of the fill up would stir up dirt and debris, which could wind up in your gas tank.

True dat. Plus I was always told the best time to pump gas is the coolest part of the day. The reason is that gas expands as temps rise and contracts slightly as temps cool. So the coolest part of the day, you pump the most gas for your money. Even if the science is true, couldn't make much difference and probably not worth planning around.

I think other factors matter more. Tire pressure, driving habits, and vehicle condition will affect your fuel economy far more than when you pump gas.

Our local Astron servo ran dry recently and yesterday it didn't show up on the pricing search. Driving past I noticed that 91 was 0.0 on the price display, so it appears that they only stocked 95 & 98 yesterday. That's a great response to the hoarders and panic buyers.

Good point about the coolest part of the day being the best time to fill up. I think I had heard that before and will mention it to my son. Also, the factors I bolded do help with fuel economy.
 
Locally there was a glitch in the system at one of our gas stations and gas was being advertised for .59c a gallon.
People were taking advantage of it yesterday. Don't know how long that lasted as I just caught the tail end of it on the news. It was on a very busy intersection too, so I imagine a lot of folks saw it..

ETA: they're saying it was hacked...happened late Friday on in to early Saturday morning.

Which is why cars have an inline fuel FILTER that should be replaced every 2 years.
 
Our prices are on a yo-yo string. (Toronto)
$1.46 lt yesterday, that's down 12 cents from the day before and today up 6 cents.
The line ups at the pumps yesterday were outrageous.
These are Costco prices, which are typically 5-7 cents lower than any where else.
