Many night-owls among you?

I just joined, so I'm wondering if there are any night-owls or insomniacs in this group. If so, say hi and I'll probably be seeing you later, in the wee hours...or tomorrow's wee hours, which would actually be morning after tomorrow.

I have pretty serious insomnia.

Same here. I'm still posting about 3 or 4 in the morning EDT.

I usually find some good music to listen to on You Tube. I sleep in 3 or 4 hour shifts. I have yet to sleep 8 hours in a row in my memory, even when I was young. I live in an apartment and nothing is open here that time of the morning till about 6.

I am about three hours ahead of you. It's 9 there and 12 here so we might make a connection.

Hi Camper6. Nearly midnight here. If you're asleep, congratulations. I'm usually up til 3 or 4 also. I used to be up at around 9/10am but lately I wake up at 6 or 7 and read for an hour or so, so that I can get back to sleep. Then I'm out til noon. If I can get a solid 5 or 6 hrs sleep, I'm golden. It's always been this way for me too, only I used to be golden with 4 hrs sleep. I take naps now...didn't used to. But that's ok. I can do what I want with my time.

I usually sleep about 3-4 hours then up for awhile. I listen to music on you tube while I play solitaire, check out the board, etc.

I used to do a crossword puzzle or two. Now I read. If I'm not sleepy after an hr or so of reading, I figure I'm up for a while and I go find stuff to do.

Got to watch this independent film on netflix starring a guy named Kentucker Audley. lol! Never heard of you before, Kentucker, but good one!:encouragement:

I'm quite often up until 2 or 3, but I'm trying to start getting to bed a little earlier each night and work into being NOT such a nightowl.

I tried, too, but if I'm not at least starting to drift off within 2 hrs, I give up. Someone told me to eat oatmeal; that it will make you sleepy. It didn't, but I found out I like oatmeal. I like to put graham crackers and peaches in it. Good with chocolate chips and walnuts too.

I have to take a sleep aid almost every night, and then I still toss and turn for at least a few hours. Maybe I'll check in some night...but the wife says that the computer is what gives insomnia. Well I've got it whether I'm on it or not, so......

Yeah, me too (re: computer light). There's an ap you can download that changes your computer light from white to blue (or whatever colors they call it) so it doesn't trigger your wake hormones (serotonin, I think). I forget the name of the ap but you can google it...think there's a few of them out there, and they're free. I had it on my previous computer. If it made a difference, I didn't notice...also when the screen light changes it is very subtle. Apparently only your serotonin knows for sure.

Found it...the app is called f.lux and it's at justgetflux.com. Can't hurt.

I usually fold up the tent around 7PM to go watch Jeopardy. IF there's a good sports game involving our home teams, I'll
watch that. I'm usually in the sack around 9 PM reading a book until the eyelids begin to flutter, at which time I close the book,
turn off the lamp and cuddle into the arms of Morpheus.

Good Night. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

That sounds nice and peaceful, Falcon. Don't know why I've always had trouble sleeping at night. I used to blame it on having to work late shift for many years, but I was lying; I've had insomnia since long before I was old enough to work. I chose late shifts because of it. These days I don't stress about it, I just sleep when I need to for as long as I need to.

I look forward to coffee at 4:00 a.m.

I always swore that when I retired, I'd darned well go to bed when I got sleepy and get up when I was darned well ready to. And, yes, I do.......

For the longest time, when I'd wake up after, say, 10am, or fall asleep at 4pm and wake an hour later, I'd freaking panic; sure that I was late for something. I'm over it.

I sleep well, useally get to bed 9.30 wake about 6 30 --7 am there was a period I had trouble sleeping ,and I blamed blood pressure pills ,after they were changed I didn't have any further trouble sleeping ...
My hubby is a poor sleeper he listens to talk back radio with a earphones / earbuds in his ears so he doesn't disturb me

I have problems sleeping and I had started a thread called "Night Owls" or something like that. Don't know where it is now but probably on another page from lack of replies after awhile. I only got about 3 and a half hours of sleep and that's not enough for me. I can often fall asleep then wake up after about an hour or two or three and can't sleep any longer. Tired of taking the pills that make me so tired I sleep all day. Took some Melatonin last night. It doesn't keep me asleep. Oh well.

I'm usually in bed around 10:00 and up by 6:00. In the past year I've discovered that shutting down the computer about an hour before bed, then reading for the last hour before sleep does me a world of good. Right now I'm reading Katy Tur's book, "Unbelievable" about the last presidential campaign. Now that I'm semi-retired, I'm really finding how much I enjoy the freedom to read again. It really does help get me ready to sleep. My next book will be "Shooting Ghosts". The jacket says "A U.S. Marine, A combat Photographer and Their Journey Back From War".
