Cash In or Gamble

If you received credit, say $10 or $15 to play the slot machines at a casino, would you gamble and try to win more, or just cash it in for sure money?

I do not go to casinos, but I would probably take the money and put it towards dinner at the buffet most casinos have. Better value for my $$ .

Easy come, easy go. I'd rather have a cheap thrill, on the slots, than a mere pittance in my pocket.

It's just that this Sunday is the county volunteer recognition luncheon at a casino. I qualify because I deliver meals-on-wheels. In the invitation it said to being a valid driver's license to receive a "special bonus". I can't imagine that it would be anything but a casino credit to play the slots. I ordinarily would not patronize a casino, but must go there to attend the luncheon. I feel I'd rather have what little cash it is than have nothing to show afterwards.

A few years back the hubby and I would go to Atlantic City because we got free rooms, free buffet and a few dollars for the slot machines. Back then you didn't have to spend much to get those comps. I generally would go to the pool and the hubby gambled just enough to be asked back. It made for a nice mini vacation. Those days are gone. We haven't been since. Now they want you to play online and I would never, ever do that. To answer the question, if the casino was nearby I would gamble it., but no more than the $10 or $15.

Most of the time, any "Credits" or coupons you receive from a casino are only good for slots play....very rarely can you just cash them in and walk away. Your best bet is to find a slot machine that catches your eye, and play the Maximum amount. It may only be good for 3 or 4 plays, but playing the "Max" is about the Only way to get any decent odds. Playing a few cents at a time is little more than a way to consume some time.

What the heck,I'd gambled
The last time I was at a casino was Oct 2011 in Las Vegas, went with 3 girlfriends. We had made our reservations 6 months ahead of time,we were there for 4 days
The hotel staff where we were staying were so happy we hadn't cancelled our reservations, they gave us free vouchers for the buffet
It was quite bizarre to walk the strip every morning and not see too many people Sue

We’ve got a casino on a Native American reservation near the nearest town

Their lounge has some almost decent food at a decent price

When we go there, we hit the big dollar machine after breakfast
Five bucks, five spins

If we lose, the natives win…our donation

We have won as much as $100
But, overall, we’ve probably lost $100

Still

Kinda fun

When in Rome do as the Romans do!

If it's being given to me I am playing the machines. How much is a go?

25 cents, 50 cents, 1.00 , 2.00 and 5.00. Then there's poker slots, not sure, but I think 1.00, 2.00 and 5.00, maybe 10.00. I've only been 3 times in my life so not sure. My friend won a 1500.00 jack pot on one of those times.

The casinos in CT are also on Native American lands, as gambling like this is illegal here otherwise.

During the day, busloads of retirees come to spend their social security checks, on the 1st of the month or on the 3rd Wed. of the month. Some on walkers, on oxygen or in wheelchairs. They love it.

The Casino near us (Oklahoma) use to give free breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday to seniors, they have changed now and you must use your ID Card on the slots to earn points towards the Breakfast!! 001 1.gif

Since I am not familiar with the casino's policies I took my voucher right to the cash out machine, but it just spit it back out. I then thought I'd have to play at least one time to be able to cash out, which I did, but the same thing happened. I asked a cashier and she told me that I had to play "down" to a certain value left on the voucher. When I cashed out, I received 17¢.

What are you going to do with your windfall?

Did you have fun at the casino, how was the food?

I've never been in a casino but I think I need to make the trip just to say I've been.
