Tell us what you're up to. It's a typical day around here; cool-ish and party cloudy. I'm sipping coffee, checking the forums, and have a load of laundry going.

Later we are heading out to early vote since we're planning an RV trip soon. On our way home we'll stop and have dinner someplace.

So how's your day going?

Today is the first day I've felt human after catching this dreadful cold last week. I've been sleeping a lot, so it's good to be out of bed and working around the house. Trying to get my pep back as I have to drive eight hours on Wednesday or Thursday to attend a wedding this weekend.

Today's the day for laundry and paperwork.

I was going to wash my windows on the outside today but it is to nasty for that. I've been giving Thanksgiving some thought because I'm having it here this year. Getting some of my recipes together and writing out my shopping list. I like to have all the ingredients on hand so I can bake at my leisure. I make a lot ahead because I have two chest freezers.

Its about 68* now and very fall like at my house. Its just after noon and I'm thinking about taking a nap. We'll stay home all day today. After the long hot summer it's so wonderful to be able to go outside during the daytime. We are slowly trying to declutter around our yard and outbuildings and get everything neat and organized. We are thinking about selling and moving into town so after living here for 25 years it doesn't hurt to give everything a second look.

I'm about to bake biscuits. You know, the kind that comes in a can. :D And then I'm going to fill out my absentee ballot (for the midterms) and mail it. The dog is barking in my ear. Not sure what he wants.

Pleasant and cool here on the coast. Drove my grand-daughter to high school (as I usually do) then had breakfast with an old friend, the fellow who was my best man way back when! Came home, relaxed a bit, then headed out to pick up a few groceries, my grand-daughter after school and home. It was enjoyable to see my old friend. We try to get together at the same little breakfast shop at least once a month when my wife and I aren't at the cottage.

Sounds like a nice day, Dave. Great that you got to see an old friend.

What is it about cooler weather that makes naps so appealing??

We just got home from voting and an early dinner. The lines at the voting place were shockingly LONG... great turnout for the first day! It took much longer than we expected but we got our "I VOTED!" stickers, so that's done.

Then we went to Outback and were in time to get meals off the lunch menu, plus it's Monday so a free Bloomin' Onion, too. Now we're full and sleepy.

Went out for lunch at the only decent Jewish deli in the area, Saul's Diner in Berkeley, CA. Enjoyed pretty good Reuben sandwiches altho not the equal of a NY deli. But better than anything elsewhere, for sure.

Seduced by Masse's, the French patisserie next door, so we bought some macarons: Apple Spice, Chocolate, Pumpkin, Pistachio, and Salted Caramel. We'll see how they compare to one of the bakeries we visit in Sonoma County that is so far the best, called Angelica's.

Stopped by to buy a lotto ticket for our winning $1.6 billion jackpot, LOL.

Now I have to wash the car and finish packing. Off to Napa Valley for a four-day visit - about an hour's drive from us.

I cut down and cut up 7 old dead trees to begin building my supply of winter firewood for our outdoor wood furnace. Tomorrow I will haul it out of the forest, then later in the week I will start splitting the larger pieces with my log splitter.

Not a heck of a lot. Filled up the bird feeder. The birds were yelling at me and pointing @ the empty feeder.

Such is life. Glad I don't have to feed anything larger; except my dog.

I took my usual morning walk at the park and let my dog roam loose to check his pmail and visit with the other doggies. On the way back I stopped at a restaurant and took home a pint of salsa to have with our tortilla chips. Then, put the dog up on the grooming table, clipped his nails, cleared his eyes and clippered down some of his bushy fluff that's constantly growing.

Did some vacuuming after that and now waiting for the oven grilled Norwegian salmon and sliced Yukon Gold potatoes sauteed in olive oil that my husband's making for us. After that, I'll clean up in the kitchen and probably not do much of anything else, maybe catch a bit of DWTS on the kitchen TV tonight.

Got up late, 11a

Brought in wood

Drew water

Pounded in some T-posts to define the property lines

Nailed some private property signs to trees

Gassed up the gennys

Winterized the summer outdoor stuff

Fixed a couple things for my lady

Changed oil on the truck

Cut up cedar boards for a pie hutch

Got hungry

Ate a couple hot dogs, washed down with juice

....and here I am

ready for bed

I missed my yoga this morning but took my dogs for their usual walk through the forest, cleaned the house, researched about wills & POA’s and trimmed cannabis for hours. Kept the fire going all day.

i suppose to plant my tulips bulbs - but the weather is bitterly cold here ; promise ile do it tomorrow '' lol:rolleyes:

i went thru 2 dresser drawers of papers --1 yesterday and 1 today---when i threw out every thing that wasnt any good all fit in a shoe box---

Gary o' that is a heck of a lot to pack in to one day, what's your secret? I pottered around the house, cooked sausage and cauliflower mash and went to Morrisons for milk. As I'm putting the milk in the fridge back at home I noticed it's got tomorrow's date on. The empty bottle of milk I finished today doesn't expire till Nov 6th. Exciting day or what. :eek1:

Ran two errands, set up some online bill payments, ate thawed, homemade vegetable beef and barley soup. Walked the dog, put some laundry away, watched some crappy TV, hung out in here.

To do- make something for supper, clean that up, feed dog, take out trash, walk dog.

Boring day here, which is good. :D It's nasty and cool-ish, drizzling rain. I slept in and have been puttering around. The better half is over at his mother's house and will pick up some Chick-fil-a for our dinner... so I don't even have to cook. I guess that's a win.
