Are you a caffeine junkie? Soda guzzler? Tea/coffee addict?

I used to love it. Two to three cups of coffee in the morning. Then I developed hyperthyroidism after I retired. Now, one cup of water processed decaf. Not really the same. It’s like pretend coffee. But, I don’t want a racing heartbeat and palpitations so I behave. And drink lots of water.

What do you do for hip and lower back pain when standing?

I found if I stop moving, it only takes two days for arthritic stiffness to set in. I keep moving by hiking and biking every day. I used the gym daily until March 2020 and it‘s shutdown forced me outside. I am glad that happened. I feel much healthier being outside a couple hours.

2024 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

    Sunny, high 82. It‘s a desert.

    Ornate and Large Silverplate Utensils

Have to correct myself. It’s what happens when late and fatigued. The fork is a Cold Meat Fork- the odd tine is the giveaway. The spoon, because of its length, is a Serving Spoon. I opened a Roger’s set this am to refresh my memory. I had forgotten other odd types - cocktail fork, tomato server...

    Ornate and Large Silverplate Utensils

Top one is a salad fork, Roger’s Bros 1847, plated, 1906 Charter Oak Pattern. Bottom is Community Plate, plated of course! 1936 Coronation Pattern, soup spoon? Not sure. The value is to someone trying to complete a pattern set. The fork is the more rare one. Not much value in the silver. Maybe...

Do You Still Have Your Wisdom Teeth?

All four out. No room. It was easy peasy. The pain before extraction and an infection after, not so fun.

What exercise have you done today?

5 mile hike. Great to be out in nature during the middle of the day. During summer I am confined to 6-8:30am or risk heat sickness. Hoping to spend time at the San Diego County coast like last year. Cool breezes.

    Eating a plant-based diet.

I started a plant-based diet a few years ago when my thyroid started acting up. I am one of that 10% of people that have hyper instead of hypo. Too much thyroid hormone. It seems to have helped somewhat. I have to avoid salt because of the iodine and also go easy on the fish, the one meat I do...

Anyone joined a dating site what are your experiences?

There are a couple channels on YouTube that upload regular videos on the situations that some “passport bros” get themselves into. It’s pretty awful. They get lured into the fantasy they have in their mind and next thing you know they are destitute and homeless in a foreign country. When it...

    Very dour medical personnel

Agree. I was a pre-med for a time. I can vouch that some of these folks were already total a$$hats at 18-21 yo. I don’t think med school was going to improve the situation.

    Does anyone use ROKU?

I was sent a Roku TV as a replacement under warranty for a previous set that failed. Happy accident.

What jobs have you been employed at?

You’ve got that right. I remember we had a teacher that was not only unliked by his colleagues, but the kids couldn’t stand him either. He was constantly out in the hall berating kids in the harshest, mean-spirited way. I suggested to the superintendent that this guy was a liability to the...

Feeling alone while being with family.

I hear ya. The senior center closest to me is mostly for the frail, “older” elderly or those with mobility challenges. I see the assisted living vans letting folks out there. The younger/more mobile seniors are over at the driving range/golf course and pickleball courts in the same complex.
