    Sexless members of Senior Forum

See me i have no problem 'ignoring', or 'blocking' anyone who becomes obnoxious. I usually put them on mental ignore first: Not responding to their threads or comments. But if they get pushy with me i use the digital boundaries. While i try not to give unwanted TMI, i'm basically an open book...

What did you learn by rote at school

LOL! i feel i learned plenty during them but very little of it was in my formal classes, despite having a handful of really good teachers. First because my Dad seriously considered home schooling me entirely because he had me reading, writing and doing basic math before i even went into 1st...

    Perspective is a fascinating thing!

Don't feel bad this was a tricky one and i laughed at myself because i first saw it on my kindle earlier. That meant not only was the photo smaller, but if i tried to rotate it the auto-rotate on my Kindle gave me a second long glimpse before re-orienting it. It was, however, enough. EDIT...

    Perspective is a fascinating thing!

This is a good object lesson--because our mental and social perspectives sometimes need to be 'turned sideways' or even upside down to remind ourselves that even when people are in situations similar to ones we've been (or are) in, it doesn't mean they are experiencing it just the same either...

Anybody still use the old remedies?

They are one of many things i can no longer enjoy due to various food intolerances and outright allergies to some chemicals that arose post menopause. Up until menopause i ate all fresh veggies and fruits with impunity. Now raw bell peppers cause indigestion and if i exceed more then a couple of...

Anybody still use the old remedies?

I empathize, one of many things my digestive track now says 'NO!' to--not as unpleasantly as when i had an ulcer at 18- but firmly, clearly. To think i used to eat whole Kosher Dills as a snack now i have to be stingy with the relish in tuna, egg and pasta salad.

We had the opportunity to meet real people.

Thanks for sharing that. I traveled quite a few places in USA when young, but not as tourist vacationing. I worked Office Temps for much of my first decade out of high school which allowed me spend more time in communities and interact with more regular ('real') people. Long before i watched...

Anybody still use the old remedies?

What i made bold. Rather than smear mentholatum on nose, i use one of those menthol inhalers that are about the size of cylinder type lip balms--a couple of inhalations thru each nostril and i'm blowing my nose as mucous loosens. Totally agree with your last sentence. If someone thinks this a...

Yes, i use workarounds like that too for the not everyday stuff. However much they complicate our lives, animals are well worth it. They contribute so much to our well being. I feel affection even for my neighbors' horses and cows. Some of whom come to the fence and some of whom come and...

    Are We Losing Our Emotions

Still think of myself as a pragmatic idealistic optimist. i can see the actual problems and what would be better, healthier for both me as individual and for our nation. You may have noticed that i have been avoiding any thread that could devolve in political discussion. This may seem...

Actually, odds are they were 'triggered' by something you perceived with one of the 5 most commonly used senses (Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch). 'Triggering' has acquired some negative connotatons, but it actually is a normal a function of the brain, that can help us remember the things we...

Thanks @Jules . Not sure if it was the restraining order in 2006 that finally did trick or what but even tho we still worked on same campus for another 5 years he never harassed me again. And in 2012 DD and i moved to NM.
