Do you think that a time will come when humans will be able to live together in harmony?

Of course not. We're great apes. We have 99% of our genes in common with chimpanzees. Chimpanzees have tribalism, war, infanticide, rape, cannibalism.... in short, everything that we have—without culture. The point is not to want to live in harmony. It will never happen. The point is to value...

    Our parent's sayings

My mother used to say: "You don't have the brains God gave a goose!" "You're as wide as a barn door!" and her all-time classic: "When your father gets home, he's gonna beat you bloody!" Which he often did. I hate remembering my childhood. It was brutal.

Who Won't Opt For The Vaccine

Right, Butterfly. And we must always keep in mind that multiple vaccines are beng developed and tested. Any one vaccine might be more prone to cause allergic reactions than another.

Who Won't Opt For The Vaccine

I agree, Win. The medical profession tends to band together, often in support of the motives of Big Pharma and Big Insurance. That is nothing new. I take no issue with what the doctors in that video said about the vaccine. They have a right to speak out if they are concerned about ill effects of...

Who Won't Opt For The Vaccine

I can understand the concern about how fast the vaccine has been developed, how few people it has been tested on, and how short a period of time those receiving the vaccine have been followed for potential side effects. We will each make an individual choice about whether to receive the vaccine...

Who Won't Opt For The Vaccine

I, for one, am ready and willing to be sidelined for 1-3 days, if it comes to that. I will line up for a COVID vaccine as soon as it's available for seniors. I am a retired physician, I've been following the medical literature about the development and testing of the various vaccines, and I feel...

    Mental Health Check

I'm all over the place, too. Certainly dealing with a lot more anxiety than usual, certainly not doing as much artwork as I'd like to be, but overall... trying to be accepting of the situation.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

At one time I cut myself quite a bit—on my left arm, long long ago when I was in my twenties—I suppose because (indeed) I was an abused child. When medical professionals gawk at my scars, I'm usually able to quip, "Those scars are older than you are." =laugh= But tattoos and piercings and...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

While editing, I messed up the quote thingie, but someone named @jujube said, "Can't judge a book by its cover." Exactly!!! I'm sorry, but a few too many judgments goin' down on this thread....

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I agree with you nearly completely, Aneeda. I don't like the nose rings just because they're so big and must interfere with normal bodily functions. Nose earrings in general, I'm fine with. And also tattoos and piercings—whatever floats your boat, is my philosophy. Many of the tattoos I've seen...

    best way to greet people ;

I like giving a peace sign with the first two fingers of my first hand, with a slight bow of the head and a smile with the eyes over the damn face covering. But I'm old-fashioned. I came of age in the late 60s, early 70s, and always a hippie on the inside. =grin=

MOBILE for the first time in 5 years! =smile=

As a few of you know, I have been rehabbing after four knee surgeries last fall. I have been grounded by crippling arthritis for years now. So I'm pleased to announce that this morning, during early "senior hours" at our local small co-operative grocery store, for the first time in over FIVE...

How do you process the issues and upsets in your life?

I used to write a lot in my journal, but now I have a tremor, so handwriting is difficult. Mostly, I meditate. I use an app called InsightTimer, which has tons of free meditations, plus a nice timer.
