Scientists say we may have been wrong about the origin of life

We all do our best to face what life offers us. I respect that. It's something we have in common.

Scientists say we may have been wrong about the origin of life

Can we still be friends in spite of our beliefs or none belief? I promise I won't try to convert you.

Scientists say we may have been wrong about the origin of life

The earth is a big place. The early stages of life could have happened many times in many places. The one that did the best job replaced the others. That's evolution. It could take a while.

My wife would be very unhappy with Amazon right now.

Yes, they aren't erasing anything you already bought. The old Kindle is still perfectly functional and still a great reader. I replaced the battery in it, but that was no big deal. It's easy. The newer ones have more bells and whistles but accomplish the same thing. The email didn't mention...

My wife would be very unhappy with Amazon right now.

Oh, it's no problem for me. I've never bought a book from Amazon for myself. I download free ones to my PC and can transfer them to the Kindle through the usb cable. And, I have a newer paperwhite that is not affected. But, thanks for your concern.

My wife would be very unhappy with Amazon right now.

The only Kindle she could use was the first one I bought with buttons for page turns. She could never get the touch screens to work right. She would get no turns or multiple pages. But she loved our original Kindle and we bought well over a hundred books for her to read on it. I got an email...

    Notes from my patio

They say it may rain tomorrow. It sure doesn't look like it today, blue sky and fluffy clouds. A starling has been visiting my birdbath, just a single bird. That's kind of unusual. Usually starlings come in flocks. They like to roost on the telephone pole out front and make a mess on the...

    Home prices are unbelievable

I was also born in Los Angeles, East L.A. not far from civic center, and raised in a suburb. And, I agree that it is sad to see how the area has changed. Sure, developers are part of the cause. They've promoted Southern California for many years. There was money to be made. And, people need...

    Home prices are unbelievable

I've heard it. My house is in a trust, but not for that reason. I just want to make it easy for my son when I go. I'm sure he will sell the place and probably use the money to pay off his mortgage.

    Home prices are unbelievable

Oh, I understand it. When I was young, there was lots of empty space and the population was much smaller. There were orchards, vineyards, and fields of vegetables. In spring the hills would be covered with yellow wild mustard blossoms. All that is now developed and there are a lot more...

    Home prices are unbelievable

Al, my neighbor a couple houses down, passed away a while back. His heirs put the house up for sale. It's a small house, 3 bedrooms, living room dining room combination, kitchen and a bath and a half. Built in 1954. They asked $900k. It sold in less than 2 weeks. Al paid $33k for it in...

Thanks, that's a good thought. I don't know much about Uber. I think you need a smart phone to use it. If I did use it and my son found out I think he might be hurt. One thing that spurred me to sell the car right now was that I just got my latest insurance bill of $600 for the next 6...

    Notes from my patio

Well, my old Ford is gone, and it feels weird without it. It's the first time I've been without a car since I was 17. As long as it was in the driveway, I could potentially go anywhere anytime I wanted. On the spur of the moment I could drive to the beach, mountains, or even Las Vegas...
