Why did the industry drift away from making wholesome TV shows?

I think that's exactly what they are doing.

I've been excused from Jury Duty!

I always wanted the experience of jury duty. Shortly after getting my Virginia driver's license, I guess that's what the court system keys on, a county sheriff's deputy knocks on my door with a summons to show up for jury selection. I was selected, yay me! I got the experience, but I didn't find...

Why did the industry drift away from making wholesome TV shows?

Much of television may be far fetched, but it seems TV is more in line today with today's reality. Frankly I think the old shows were just something to watch. We didn't demand much from TV. Today we demand more than lectures on morality and family values. We like things that give us insight into...

What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Some are better than others, and could be described as "fun" rather than "alarming." Remember the early StarTrek series. They encountered a few in their adventures, some seemed utopian on the surface, but rather then being finally exposed as alarming, they were exposed as dumb. Well, that was my...

The cost of a can of soup.

Now that's got to be a mistake. Better buy a case.

What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Kind of. But that's pretty much the same reaction I have to most of King's work. I don't feel compelled to recommend it, but I wouldn't tell anyone not to bother either. It did hold my attention, and King always does that. The premise is "the last man standing." That's been done a lot, so...

What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

The Long Walk. Typical Stephen King creation. I wanted to see it at the theater, because I read the novel 40 or 50 years ago when King published it under a pen name. It has King's fingerprints all over it.

3rd Interstellar (maybe) comet heading this way

As for the "thing" coming our way, I hope it doesn't hurt us. I doubt that it has intentions, however. While the Universe is made up of mostly boring empty space. It's big enough to host a lot of different kinds of things. Although it's rare, at least by human standards, things do bump into each...

3rd Interstellar (maybe) comet heading this way

An unusually good movie. I was able to buy a copy for myself. At the time, it was not readily available, but I wanted that in my collection.

The cost of a can of soup.

I suspect as already suggested, that the packaging is worth more than the product.

    Catching lightning bugs (fireflies)

It was a big part of my childhood. 70 years later, I tried it again. It wasn't as easy as I remembered.

What is your favorite weird food combination?

I've always liked pickled herring on hard tack. It's not really weird. I think it's traditional, but apparently only among a small subset. Hard tack is almost impossible to find these days, But in a pinch Rye Crisp works too.

Scotland set to abolish Not Proven verdict.

Oddly, during high profile cases, I personally process the events in my own head as "guilty, not guilty, and not proven." So Scotland doesn't seem that far out there, or maybe I'm just out there along with Scotland.

Are there any MST3K fans here? Who was your favorite host? Favorite experiment?

It was a TV show. Low budget, but a very creative idea. I got into it for a short while, but my interest faded. There's a thin overall plot about an astronaut and three robots stuck in space. For some reason they have access to every science fiction movie made before 1955, which they watch. The...
