    The General Humor Thread

I get a kick out of these "uninspiring" quotes...happened upon them way back when...someone got sick of the syrupy Hallmark stuff and decided to be irreverent: (I know, I know...we're supposed to stay positive but ya gotta admit, these are funny...I have more).... :devilish: (Certainly more my...

Did you grow up with parents who were never affectionate?

That's interesting....sounds like she understood where her "hangups/neuroses?" came from ... and perhaps how she had passed them along? It really is just karma - cause and effect....often pretty clear...sometimes complex though and hard to "unpack." In my older years I've started to see many...

Did you grow up with parents who were never affectionate?

One of my favorite poems (yes, I know it's irreverent and probably violates some rule here but I couldn't resist): :devilish: They "F" you up, your mom and dad They do not mean to, but they do They fill you up with faults they had And add some extra just for you

Anyone Familiar with Xtrema ceramic cookware?

I'm trying to stick to the types of products you list here but for something like an egg...or other things that need non-stick...I'd like an alternative. They're out of stock on the X pans, so it's back-burner for me now (pun intended). :)

Did you grow up with parents who were never affectionate?

IF they were able to make peace and let it go...unfortunately the complexities of how our parents shaped us are often never "figured out." Mine were pretty affectionate but dysfunctional in other ways...I can see some of the hangups in myself even now in my old age. I've made peace (mostly) by...

The dilemma of alcohol abuse in free modern era societies

I could write a book on the ills of alcohol...wish there were a way to tamp down its destruction. Without belaboring the subject here are some things that could help: Parents (model that it's ok...they could not drink at home)...wishful thinking, I know. Media could stop glamorizing it and...

I feel as if my brain is attacking me,

Agree that the pain med could be the culprit...hang in there until it's out of your system...lots of support here.

What are your thoughts on suicide?

Totally in favor of assisted suicide for old people suffering...wish it were legal in all states and not limited to those with a terminal illness. I would never call it cowardly...no one can understand what another person is going through and we should never judge because of it.
