    Watching TV in the 50s & 60s.

My brother and I were "Star Trek" fanatics, but my dad hated the show. My mom (who worked at Zenith) got so tired of all the crying and yelling that she bought TVs for our room, the rumpus room in the basement along with the one in the living room. So in the mid-60's we were a 3 TV household...

Do you ever just need someone to talk to?

I would love to have someone to "confide in. I don't like the idea of using my kids because sometimes I want to complain about their father and I don't want them to feel they have to take sides. I try not to complain to my husband, cause most of the time he's the problem and if he isn't he...

    navy subs

Same here, hubby served on Boomers; USSB John C. Calhoun and USSB Von Steuben, from 1978 to 1999. He bravely fought "the Cold War" but no accolades. He joined when there was still a Vietnam War backslash, service members were not allowed to wear their uniforms off base. He cried the first...

The Villages in Central Florida vs active adult communities in South Florida

That's what I mean, the 55 communities have different clubs for different interest. I could join the clubs that interest me and immediately meet like minded people, whereas in open communities I would have to travel to the towns community center or senior center to do the same and anyone I meet...

    Senior Living Near Disney World

I would start with 55places.com. It has listing for all types of over 55 communities in the US. I'm using it to find a place in either central Florida (near Disney) or South Florida where I'm from. The also have an app and will send you updates on communities and properties you like. I hope...

The Villages in Central Florida vs active adult communities in South Florida

My problem with "mixed age" communities is that I am very shy and have a hard time making friends. I feel that a 55+ community would have enough planned activities that I could meet and get to know people without scaring myself silly. We lived in several houses and apartments (my husband was...

The Villages in Central Florida vs active adult communities in South Florida

You've all given me a lot to think about. I realized it was crowded when we stopped by for a day in April, buy hadn't thought about it getting worse.

The Villages in Central Florida vs active adult communities in South Florida

We looked into that....very expensive! On the east coast of the state we could only find Condos near the water and most of them don't allow dogs. Also the HOA fee is crazy high in all of them. The HO insurance and real estate taxes are also ridiculous.

That's one of the things I've worried about. I'm a S. Florida girl, love the heat!

    Guilty Pleasure Movies

The Fifth Element; Gary Oldman was great in this. I guiltily enjoy any Bruce Willis movie.
