I am the quintessential negative curmudgeon! There are actually many positive sides to being like this: for ex, other people tell me things they don't tell others, bc my personality is one of "giving permission" to be negative and talk about heavy things.

I forgot the name of the guy on SF who tells us how to do things. Anyone?

Mostly novels is all I read, a few memoirs.

I just read The God of Small Things by Arundhuti Roy. It's more than 10 years old; I had read other stuff by her I didn't like but that was nonfiction. This is a novel and it was sensational. About a few generations of an Indian family. It got the Booker Prize when it came out.

I hate most horror movies, but I did love Rear Window and American Werewolf in London (funny). The scariest movie I ever saw was River Wild with Meryl Streep, in which she and her family are attacked by 2 psychos when on a rafting trip. I nearly had a heart attack.

So sorry to hear this. May his memory be a blessing.
