The "Joys" of Home Ownership: A Rant

Whenever I bring up talking to a realtor--because I'm so curious about how much we might get for our house--he refuses to even talk to a realtor (keeps saying "okay okay, SOME day we can talk to a realtor but NOT YET"). I'll try the inspector suggestion; a friend who's a licensed general...

    Word of the Day: Truthiness

I think it was Stephen Colbert who invented that word, wasn't it?

Do you think retirement was what you pictured to be?

Actually, some news sources say it may flare up again. But anyway, all or most of the activities that were stopped because of Covid around here haven't been started up again. Different reasons are given for the reasons, usually money.

Had to switch pharmacies......from Rite Aid to CVS

I can't. There are a lot of towns that have only one pharmacy or none. And if those poor people don't drive, I don't know what they're supposed to do because mail order prescriptions aren't the answer for everyone; like in my case, I wouldn't want prescriptions sitting for any length of time out...

The "Joys" of Home Ownership: A Rant

Thanks Jules, but we've talked about all that before and it didn't work. What he says a lot is along the lines of "Look you know I'm on borrowed time since we don't usually even make it into our 70s in my family so you won't have me or this house to put up with for much longer. Just be patient."...

Do Your Devices Do Glitchy, Strange Things Sometimes?

This kind of thing is so frustrating; I blame all or most of it on updates.

Is your glass 1/2 empty or 1/2 full?

    What glass?

Do you think retirement was what you pictured to be?

Same here. You hear over and over to get out and socialize, mingle, join stuff but since Covid, there's almost nothing around here.

Outliving Family Members Is So Depressing

When I was in my 20s, I was telling my mom how I missed a friend who had gotten married and moved far away & how sad I was at the thought of almost certainly never seeing her again. Mom said, "Look that's going to happen to you throughout life: people will come and go out of your life that...

Had to switch pharmacies......from Rite Aid to CVS

I've thought some more about this and it might work okay if I ever moved to within walking distance of the Post Office or one of those mail "stores" that rent mailboxes (and if I could ever work my way up their long waiting lists for a box).

Had to switch pharmacies......from Rite Aid to CVS

I'd be afraid to have prescriptions come by mail since if the prescription has to sit in our old hot mailbox for even a short amount of time, I worry about what it does to the medication. (With our weather, the mailbox gets too hot about 8 months out of the year.)

The "Joys" of Home Ownership: A Rant

That sounds like paradise to me now. Especially since we're dealing with a bunch of water damage, the A/C drain pipe up in the attic leaked & ruined part of the ceiling, wall and carpet in the master bedroom closest. Annnnd, the insurance co. told me earlier today that they may or may not pay...

The "Joys" of Home Ownership: A Rant

Thanks, you're so right. As a friend who's been widowed told me when I told her what Huzz said, "Well, sure you'd get it figured out, but as I can tell you from first-hand experience, it's hell going through it."

The "Joys" of Home Ownership: A Rant

This is what I'm so afraid of happening to me if my husband dies or moves permanently into a skilled nursing facility before I do and why I've been trying to convince him to move to a smaller/more manageable place. But every time I've brought it up, saying what if that happens, it'd be so hard...
