You're lucky. Out of about a dozen this year, I found only 1 bad pto switch. 1 was a fuse and all the rest were safety switches and wiring issues.

I would also like to add, that most of the time, AI is stupid diagnosing most things.

One thing to add is that the engine does not need to be running for these checks. Set the parking brake and have the ignition switch in the run position. The clutch will pull in even without the engine running. The engine only needs to run to check for alternator voltage.

Your best bet is to ask the question on a tractor forum. First thing I would do, check that the battery has at least 13.2 volts while running. If the alternator is not charging the battery, the clutch will quit. The battery has to has at least 12.3 volts resting. Next you have to see if said...

For the northern half of the country, most contractors already have more jobs than they can finish this year. That could be the reason for higher bids. Early spring is a better time to ask. I know a lot of tradesmen and it is the same no matter which trade. They are always racing the weather.

We make potatoes every way accept baked or riced. I think tomorrow I'll make potato pancakes. They started digging in this area last week. Soon friends will be dropping off some 5 gallon pails or boxes of fresh potatoes. No problem keeping potassium levels up here. ;)
