    Give Yourself One Point

Once I saw the picture of the cootie catcher I could add that to my list (we made them but didn’t call it anything that I can remember)… I’m not sure why #8 is on the list. It’s not like we had a choice whether we had a sibling or not! Also, re #5… we used to make cinnamon toast which was toast...

Cook without recipes, does anyone else?

That’s it for me, too. When I look at a long list of required ingredients, my brain shuts off! Therefore, I rarely bake because I know baking is a lot more scientific.

Cook without recipes, does anyone else?

When I have foods on hand that I want to cook, soup for example, I’ll go online and get ideas, and then wing it. I find recipes overwhelming and tiring. So far, most of what I throw together turns out to be quite tasty, and not just to me. Anyone else like that?

Home Internet price just went up, any tips?

Update to my original post! I called Cox and they gave me a new plan with greater speed (300 thingys rather than 250) and at less cost than I’d been paying! Go figure! My new bill will be ~$56. Will wonders never cease!

    Relocating from California in 2025

I suggest you look into Kansas… I moved alone at 68, bought a house for $135K, and live exclusively on my social security income. I have a good hospital and medical center about a mile from home, and drive to Wichita about once a month for extra shopping adventures that my town might now have...

    Relocating from California in 2025

Beware of mobile home parks and space rent that goes up and up and up. I lived in one in Orange, down in Orange County. I now pay half what I paid for space rent for PITI mortgage on my 3+2 bedroom, plus full basement, home on half an acre In a lovely small town in Kansas. I love the 4 seasons...

Does Anyone Still Live In Their Hometown?

No, and I couldn’t even afford the down payment on anything in that town, La Crescenta, a suburb of Los Angeles. I was born in downtown Los Angeles (the hospital is now under the 110 freeway), and I’ve lived at approx 35 different addresses in my life, including in other countries, but since...

    Welcome To Coffee Corner

Does anyone else use fine grind coffee and a single-serve pour over? I buy German coffee, either from the German market down in Wichita, or bring it back from my daughter’s place in Germany. The flavor is so rich and strong!

Home Internet price just went up, any tips?

Thanks for the tip. I have T-mobile for my cell phone, but I didn’t know they provide home internet service. I’ll research.

    Rising prices - Wow!

The prices for eating out are outrageous, and seem to have jumped within a very short period of time. I just visited my oldest daughter in Berlin, where groceries are definitely cheaper than in the states, but eating out has also gotten way pricier than when I last visited two years ago.

Home Internet price just went up, any tips?

My home internet just went up $20/month, from $65 to $85 for 250 Mbps. I only use internet for web browsing, uploading photos to a blog, no gaming or anything else. I checked with my cell phone provider but they can only offer LITE service and that doesn’t sound worth the cost. Anyone have any...

Trade-off moving away vs being near family

I’m currently living at address #37, mostly California, but also including various places in Europe. I intend for #37 to be my last! No, nobody was in military, just circumstances of life. Lots of adventures!
