Picayune Lagniappes or, A Little Bit of Nothings

2020. Daddy and I had to reschedule several doctor appointments in 2019 so my New Year's resolution was to get us back on track. I took Daddy for his appointments first then I started scheduling mine. I was able to see my cardiologist who set me up to have a heart Stent in April, after I had...

    Homemade clothing of the past...

I recall making 'angel tops' for my daughter that looked a lot like these. My daughter was about 5 yrs old at the time. I made a bathing suit for me when I was pregnant and a gown for one of the Mardi Gras balls. I made shirts for my son when he was first starting school. For some reason I gave...

It synced and now I'm sunk

Bought a desktop a while back and put my laptop in the closet with the intention of taking it to the geek squad to replace the fan. My 14 year old granddaughter had to move in with me in August and started her remote schooling using my desktop until I got the laptop repaired. Finally took my...

Picayune Lagniappes or, A Little Bit of Nothings

November 2019. Week until Thanksgiving. I was going back and forth about what to do for Thanksgiving. It was almost 4 months since my sister died and 2 months since my mother died. Would Daddy feel better if it was similar to the previous years or would he feel better if I did something...

    Eye of the beholder...

How ironic! Our beaches just opened up today and this weekend I know it will be packed even though there are distance restrictions. And my fear has been that everything opening back up will increase the number of Covid-19 cases.

    Coloring Hair

My hair used to be medium-dark brown with tons of red high lights. In the sun it looked red, in artificial light it looked brown. I started coloring it red years ago but when the gray started coming in it got an orange hue about it because I was using the golden. So I switched to light ash...

    Coloring Hair

Wearing a face mask helps me feel no one knows who I am.

Finally tried out my food sealer

I ordered my groceries last night and the only thing I couldn't get was rice. Not even the quick cook kind. And the price of eggs made me do a double take. Had my neice buy me some eggs today at Walmart. I use the 18 ct large eggs. It cost almost $5 for one carton!

    Our parent's sayings

Every night it seems at dinner we were told to chew with our mouths closed. Or, keep your mouth open and a fly will fly in. My mother would make a "hphhm" sound. Never knew what she was trying to say (or wanted to say but holding it back), but figured I was better off not knowing so would just...

Finally tried out my food sealer

That never crossed my mind even though my first FoodSaver didn't have a 'wet' button. That does explain it though.

    Eye of the beholder...

That would be my dream kitchen. Love the details and the colors. What a great idea for the range top. Just beautiful.

Finally tried out my food sealer

I've never pre-frozen any of the meats or leftovers I've sealed to freeze. I have frozen sauces in the bags as soon as it cooled off, using the 'wet' button. It doesn't pull the air out as strong and fast as the setting for 'dry' foods. I've frozen breads and rolls in the bags, using pastry...

My niece sent me a food saver sealer

First one I had the seal went bad and it was old so I bought a new one which worked great until the sucker went out on me. Wouldn't pull the air out anymore.

Time To "Step Up"And Get On The Soup Box!

Oh! Good in a variety of soups too.

Time To "Step Up"And Get On The Soup Box!

It's a southern thing. Good fried, in gumbos, in peas (field peas and okra...YUM!).
