    Just Pies - I have a problem

In England we tend to think of pies as savoury, though of course we have sweet ones too. Here's one to drool over! : )

    Merry Christmas Wishes!

I don't know too many people here 'personally' yet, but I hope to over the coming year. In the interim have a great Christmas!

    A returnee

Hello all, I used to be an active member here until a year or so ago - maybe longer and decided to leave for a bit following some rather highly charged political exchanges! Anyway I enjoy the forum and I've decided to return - and not to get too involved with politics this time. A brief summary...

    Parody and satire

Satire is a big thing here in the UK. We have a number of TV and radio programmes, including Have I got News for You, The Now Show, The News Quiz and others which I suspect some Americans here would find rather shocking for mainstream TV. Personally I like the rough and tumble, the 'anything...

What dog would be best for me

Well I am biased as I have two of them, but I would recommend a border terrier. A couple of reasons: A small dog sounds ideal for you given your situation. They are very intelligent and also long lived for dogs (15 is not unusual). They have what I can only describe as 'spirit'. Here's my Alfie!

    Manchester

    Is nostalgia a good thing?

What with most us here getting on in years I'm sure a lot of us spend time thinking about the past and in particular our childhood, teens and early adult life. What with the internet, YouTube in particular it is really easy to find stuff from one's own era. I grew up in Hong Kong as an ex-pat...

Do you have a favorite drive/road trip?

It is a short hop from here in Carlisle over the border into Scotland and one of the most overlooked areas in the UK - Dumfries and Galloway (that's the name of the county). The Highlands, 150 miles further north are of course spectacular and they are what most people associate with Scotland...

Speaking of cars , what car did you learn to drive in ? Who taught you?

I was a reckless young man who thought he was a rebel and I broke the rules as often as I thought I could get away with it. I drove one of these for over a year without a license or insurance. I'm not proud of it - I was a foolish young man, but it was fun at the time! The car hardly shouts...
