Today I'm having a colonoscopy...

I had my colonoscopy yesterday after being cleared by my primary care doctor. Getting the final prep solution down plus 32 ounces of water wasn’t easy. I had to shovel snow the day before to keep my driveway clear for my ride, and that effort plus being on a liquids only diet then purging left me feeling cold! My body was depleted, running on empty.

Anyways, they removed five polyps from me, and I am good now as far as my colon goes for three years until the next one. You might say all’s good in the end! 😸

It's good to read your update. Thankfully, you've gotten rid of those polyps, now. And you didn't have to postpone or decline the colonoscopy.

That's awful that you had to do the outdoor exercise on the day you were prepping for the procedure. It would have been better if you'd been able to save your strength.

Have you had any trouble recovering, either from the entire few days, or from the removal of 5 polyps?

Thanks for asking, Kaila! The only wrinkle I encountered was that I took a morning dose of a prostate medication before taking the second dose of prep solution, and the solution apparently flushed those meds out before they could be absorbed, so I had problems “going” after the procedure until I figured out what was happening, and took an extra dose, which thankfully corrected the problem!

My experience just serves as a warning to anyone undergoing colonoscopy that medications taken during the prep period may not have time to be absorbed if you have prep solution active in you, or still to drink. That solution is an express freight train that rushes anything taken by mouth or in your digestive tract right out of you!

I'm glad to know that you didn't encounter any other additional difficulties, recovering from your procedure which included those polyp removals.

And it's a good reminder you gave others, regarding any ongoing meds.

Thanks for sharing the feedback and follow-ups.

Four bowel blockages must be awful. A close relative of mine died from that, basically. He was in denial about it and his denial combined with a hospital staff and his doctors who are so incompetent I would like to see some of them go to jail, caused his death. Of course, no one will go to jail. Medical incompetence is protected by very weak malpractice laws in our state. No one cares. People are a dime a dozen here. The state sees all people as tax revenue generators here and not much more.
I have had pain on lower right side for a year now , had all the scans, had a colonoscopy, nothing found, the pain gets bad

Possibly nerve pain, from spine? or referred pain from a different location?....
A year is a long time, without it resolving. Try a neurologist, possibly?
