That's one heckuva' pack.
That's one heckuva' pack.
My husband was a dust off medic in Nam. They would fly him into a recent firefight, he'd do all he could (with others) for the hurt and he would be picked up before dark. Right after Nam he was groomed by the Secret Service as an agent. We were married 30 yrs and I still do not know what he did. Dave Hammer was his name. Familiar?...a collection of meaningful songs:
that one isn't available for some reason...let's try this one:
If you want the definition of "hero"... look no further than combat dust off medic's.My husband was a dust off medic in Nam. That song always spoke volumes but now perhaps more so .
and has it?I wasn‘t in Nam but I remember what was going on in the States. It was a time for revolution and we hoped our actions would make the world a better place to live.
yes, but in ways that don't make sense to those who suffered and those who lost. Can't explain it. Only years bring it in to perspective. They fought for their independence. We fought back to contain communism. We ignored them when they wanted our help. We aligned with the french. So much misery and heartache could have been avoided but that's where we were at that time.and has it?
fair enough!yes, but in ways that don't make sense to those who suffered and those who lost. Can't explain it. Only years bring it in to perspective. They fought for their independence. Now, today, Vietnam produces 60% of the coffee we drink. They have their independence and they will live or die depending on how they run their country. I, a Vietnam vet, wish them well. I see it as just like us in the 1700's. We wanted our independence and we fought for it. We sacrificed. We won. As is often quoted, freedom is not cheap. It cost. We paid the price, they paid the price. End of story
Epitaph was one of my favoritesThis was on my Reel-to-Reel in 1970 when I was stationed in Guam.
After a shift of loading B-52's, needed a release.
We would gather in a room, crank up the music, drink and try to forget what we had just done...
Best Movie ever made, in my opinion... And Tom Hanks is outstanding! You really should see it, at least once! Oh and Forrest's mother is played by Sally Fields, another great actor!Never saw 'Forrest Gump,' only heard about it.
well said. I respect them now. They suffered and died but they are a country now. Very similar to our origins. Why we all had to suffer??????? Don't know. All I can think is that it had to happen. It needed to go the way it did. Again, don't know. But the outcome seems right. The loses on both sides, grievous but in Gods domain the shedding of blood was necessary. Why, in this case, I don't know or understand. Just know it had to go the way it went.fair enough!
