Red and yellow variegated tulips around the base of the pole light. White violets are rampant on the south side of the house this year. Where could they have come from?

There are a lot of white and purple violets or violas aka wild pansies in the lawn here too!
I tried to plant them in the grass around my mother’s tombstone a few years ago, without any luck, she always called them Johnny Jump Ups.

Isn’t that the way it is? Wild pansies grow fabulously in sandy soil but dig them up and try and transplant them in healthier rich soil and they just shrivel up and die.

I tried to plant them in the lawn.
I bought a half pound of seeds and mixed them with a bucket of potting mix, worked it in with a stone rake and watered them, nothing.
I’m not 100% sure of the quality of the seeds, I may try again this fall.
