Problems with coffee sweetner!

I have enjoyed the taste of coffee for a long long time but I just never got a hankering for it until after I turned 80 and got a coffee maker and some filters and coffee and make 16oz. cups of coffee.
I have been sweetening the coffee with Splenda but it doesn’t seem to suspend in the tall paper cup very well.
The first is bitter and the last is almost too sweet.
I have thought about taking a second empty cup and pouring it back and forth a couple of times after it has sat for a few minutes.
Real sugar doesn’t agree with me so that is out!
Anybody had the same problem and what did you do?

My first question is why are you using paper cups? I don't know why that would cause an issue. I've gotten decaf coffee from McDonalds (which is always good) and put Splenda in it. The sweet taste was as it should be. Perhaps you need to stir more thoroughly, which would be hard to do if the cup is filled to the brim.

Next question is are you storing the Splenda in an area where it's too warm? When I traveled by bus and used to put Splenda in my suitcase, which was put underneath in the bus' luggage area, which I assume could have been warmer than on the bus, I used to notice the Splenda had a funny taste. Since I now carry the packets in my purse or lunch bag, that no longer happens.

I use the kind of cups they use when they sell coffee at the gas stations.
But I bought my cups at the store.
They hold up really well and I rinse them out and use them over many times.
I don’t think that the Splenda is going bad because it sweetens what is in the bottom of the cup.
I think I will try letting the coffee sit for about ten minutes in the cup with the lid on it and then try pouring it back and forth.
Maybe it doesn’t dissolve right away or something.

I have what is called an electric shaker cup that blends coffee really well. It is not a blender and does not have sharp blades, just a plastic spinner in the bottom which creates a vortex and thoroughly mixes whatever you are drinking. Mine charges by usb, and the charge lasts a long time.
It is great if you are making something like bulletproof coffee, where you are adding some kind of supplement to it, but it is also great just to blend in your cream and sweetener.
Here is what mine looks like, and I got it on Amazon. You can actually drink out of the shaker cup, it has a pour spout where you can use a straw, or you can blend and then pour into a different cup or mug. It is fairly well insulated, too, but since it is plastic and not an actual blender, it does not crush ice if you are making a cold drink.

I'd be interested in knowing if your new method works.

For a while I was drinking more than a cup a day. One in the morning and another later in the day but I only drink one a day or maybe two days now.
I will reply on here if it does the trick or not in a day or so.
I don’t mind the bitter coffee so badly if I eat some pastry- muffin or cake with it because that sweetens it almost enough but just not quite enough.

I haven't used sugar or artificial sweetener in a long time. I used the flavored sweeteners for awhile but they have too many calories. Now I mostly just put soy milk or almond milk in coffee ☕. Maybe once or twice a week I will put a little honey 🍯 in my coffee ☕ I like the taste of it.

I have been using a mix of regular milk and a bottle of protein drink, mixed together. The protein drink has a little flavoring and sweetener and gives the coffee just a tiny bit of a sweet flavor and takes the edge off of the bitterness. I tried just using the protein drink as a creamer, but it does not add enough creaminess, and I had to put a lot of it in to make the coffee look and taste right. By mixing it with milk, I can use a lot less creamer. I have tried several flavors of whey protein drink, vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, and caramel, and I really like the caramel the best.
It gives me a little extra protein this way, too; so that is all okay.

Another easy way to thoroughly stir your coffee is to get one of those little coffee frothers, @GP44 . They are battery operated , and just a quick whiz with the frother will have everything mixed really well.

I brewed some coffee this morning and was ready to try pouring it back and forth but for some reason it wasn’t bitter to start with. Maybe because I waited for a few minutes before drinking it.
I got to thinking too that it wasn’t the top layer of coffee that was bitter because I was drinking it through the stir straws.
So that means that the first sips were from the bottom of the cup.
I am thinking now that the bitter taste was coming from the coffee being scorching hot when I started drinking it.
As confusing as this has gotten to be for some reason my coffee was better than usual this morning.
I have to get back to it before it gets cold!
