Thanks for bringing that up, @Jules. I don't know what it is. I need to check into it.It’s too bad you don’t have a dash cam, Palisades. I’m not criticizing because I don’t have one either.
I was very worried when you wrote that you had to swerve suddenly. What if, what if, something was already there? Thank goodness you are alright.I agree with you, @jhummel73 ! Feeling grateful.
Thanks, @hollydolly, for sharing your news about your small roads and people being guided to go there. I can understand it, as I have also witnessed being guided by my GPS to go down small roads. Stay safe! Our country roads..and lanes used to be very quiet and as I live here, I'd often drive along our one car wide roads without seeing another car...for miles, which given that most of the roads are very bendy so it's difficult to see a car coming the opposite way.. and escpecially bad at night.
Now I rarely go through them, because for the last few years people using satnavs, get guided through them to avoid motorway traffic..they don't live here, so they dont know the rules of the country roads, and it's all become very dangerous now
Thank you, dear @Pepper! I agree with you. I have played that scenario over and over in my mind, and feeling grateful that I survived it.I was very worried when you had to swerve suddenly. What if, what if, something was already there? Thank goodness you are alright.![]()
It's an onbard camera which usually sits on your dashboard, or can be attached anywhere you wish, and records your journey... they cost very little now. I have one, but It's not wired in so it keep falling off the dash, so I don't use it, that's a reminder for me to get the garage to put it in properly for me..Thank you for the information, @911 ! What is a dash cam, may I ask? I haven't heard of it before and might consider it. Thanks.
In recent times both myself and DW have had close calls, I've been shopping for a dash-cam and inquiring on automotive forums.A lot of people aren’t as lucky as you were. Over my 37 years as a State Trooper, I have investigated many accidents as you described. It’s always the other person’s fault and unless you have a dash cam that shows the reality of the situation, in most instances the cop investigating the accident will advise both parties to contact their insurance company and let them battle it.
If there is a serious injury or death involved with the accident, we will do a full investigation, including a reconstruction of what happened using skid marks, the directions of the vehicles, etc. Our accident reconstructionists do excellent jobs of finding out who did what.
Having a dash cam in this environment with road rages happening almost daily is a good idea and in case of an accident, it can be used in a court of law in case of a serious accident and the case goes to trial.
Ok, thanks, @hollydolly . That makes sense! I will surely check into it when my son visits soon. He's more tech savvy. It's an onbard camera which usually sits on your dashboard, or can be attached anywhere you wish, and records your journey... they cost very little now. You're welcome, of course. I understand how your mom is feeling. After the shock of what might have happened wears off, she'll probably only call you twice a day. Thanks, @OneEyedDiva ! I am feeling grateful. However, my mom is unnerved and now she's calling 3-4x a day to make sure I'm ok, lol.
I think she's hypersensitive because my older sister recently died in April from complications of Stage 4 cancer. You're welcome, of course. I understand how your mom is feeling. After the shock of what might have happened wears off, she'll probably only call you twice a day.![]()
Sorry you've experienced the close calls, @Nathan ! I'm also going to look for a dash-cam, just to be safe.In recent times both myself and DW have had close calls, I've been shopping for a dash-cam and inquiring on automotive forums.

Nathan: I understand why you’re checking out all the dash cams. There are a lot of cameras on the market now and it can be confusing. I would recommend writing down what you want on your camera and find the ones that fit your matrix. In recent times both myself and DW have had close calls, I've been shopping for a dash-cam and inquiring on automotive forums.
Thank you for your condolences, @OneEyedDiva ! Yes, it has been a difficult time for the family these past couple of months. My sister was progressing well, and then COVID hit, and we lost her.I'm so sorry Palides...I didn't know! You and your family have my deepest condolences.
