Nick names, why do you have yours?

All my cousins call me Grizz.

It started maybe 35 years ago, back when I was a drinker. We used to go to Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama every year for the car race.

It's 6am, and I cracked open a jug of Jack Daniels. They said "You're starting already?"

My response was, "If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly bear"

Hence the name Grizz.

I quit drinking almost 23 years ago, but the name stuck.
 
I was Stevie growing up. Even today I have a cousin and friend that use it and I am 70. I will never forget at the age of 40 being in Columbia South Carolina at their large stadium watching the UF gators beating the snot out of the game cocks while sitting in the end zone with my best friend. Suddenly I hear "Stevie, stevie" Turn around and it's my cousin from Charlotte NC. Big gator fan like me but had no clue she was there........
 
My nickname has been Evelyn since I was a baby. My mother who raised me (with her husband, who was really my grand uncle) thought I looked like an Evelyn, not Helen (my maternal grandmother's name), which was my given name.
 
My only brother{3 yrs younger} as a joke starting calling me 'old bag' when I turned 50
I thought it was amusing,over the years he continues to call me that now its' senior old bag'
