Not being able to come up with a clever response, I have a heat pump. It works well up to about 85 degrees, but simply can't keep up after 90 degrees. From before the heat pump, I have an old window style air conditioner mounted in the wall, so I turn on that one too, and another in the upstairs bedroom, and I'm nice and cool, but it gets awful noisy. I can turn down my hearing aides and that helps.

I had to deal with the heat yesterday during a 2 hour power outage. I wore a wet Tshirt and drank ice water during the entire ordeal.
The wet Tshirt was most helpful in staying cool. With a 100 degree day, the house heats up quickly especially on the second floor.
