Notes from Pappy's diary

Good grief….its raining again. 😡 I can count the nice warm sunny days on one hand so far. I’m told that Florida is having severe thunderstorms so I sure don’t miss that.

My friend, that lives across the street in Florida, keeps me posted on what’s new on our old place. A mother and daughter live there now. Mother has a cat and daughter has a dog. They have no car so I don’t know how they get around.

Showing a photo of my Father’s Day cards and gifts. My grandson brought over 6 cream filled Krispy Cream donuts. OMG they are so good. Calories by the millions but worth every bite.

Looks like another dreary day so outside things will have to wait. Pappy

Monday Thelma got a heart monitor to wear for a couple days and gave 5 vials of blood to the nurse. I suspect she may be having some congestive heart failure. She has same symptoms as I do.

Today, at 2 pm, I pick up my groceries at ShopRite. Never been in the store as they bring items right out to my car. So much cheaper than Instacart that we used in Florida.

I truly wish we would get some sunshine. It’s dank and dreary all most all the time. I can count the nice days we’ve had on one hand. 😒

It’s going on 7 am here and we will have to see what develops today.

Pappy
Wishing the best for Thelma, love and hugs to you both. 🌷

Our daughter took us over to DMV so I could get my drivers license. What a joke that was. Went to two places and walk-ins was a 4 hour wait time. Everything was so much easier in Florida. Still living in dark ages up here. One of the people waiting said to me, long wait isn’t it? I told her lm 87 years and don’t know how much I have left. But, it won’t be here for sure.

Management has assigned our vehicle parking spaces now. Mine is right outside my front door. Mighty handy for us. Getting more use to a smaller place now. 900 square feet compared to what we had before. 1250 square feet. Nice part is everything is new and compact. All the modern conveniences are built in.

Bought a new rug and vacuum cleaner to keep it clean. Pictures enclosed.
So have a great day folks..Pappy

My DMV here in Norwich has never had long lines since I moved here. Usually in and out quickly. I renewed my license last June and the hardest part was walking down a long, long hall from the elevator to the DMV.

I used to LOVE Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Nice Father's Day treat for you!

Is Thelma doing better being around your family?

Thelma and I were sitting on our patio yesterday having a sandwich, chips and ice tea. Two different people wanted to know how we could stand the heat. I told them we were from Florida and this weather was a normal day for us.

Have a doctors appointment at 1 pm today. The VA hospital is called Castle Point and about a 40 minute drive. Having an Echocardiogram and pulmonary test. Stress text is my next appointment.

We went to the local casino Saturday. Wife and I came home with a few more bucks than we started with. I call that a win-win.

Pappy,

Do you do the regular stress test of the chemical stress test?

My PCP has bee after me to have one but I keep putting her off.

Chemical. I don’t do well on the machine. Too short of breath. This will be my third one and they aren’t bad just uncomfortable for a few seconds. I get a flash of heat, when the chemical is released, and makes me want to pee. I don’t, just feels like it.

Rough night in the Pappy household last night and this morning. We had pasta and meatballs delivered last night and I’m thinking it might have caused our dilemma. No vomiting but diarrhea from hell. Both of us felt punk today so we stayed in our recliners.

Bought some blackout curtains from Amazon and Sue came over and put them up for us. We don’t do ladders any anymore. The is a street light right outside our bedroom window and it is pretty bright.

That’s all from the dehydrated Robinson tonight.

Today, we had nothing planned for the 4th. Granddaughter called and invited us to a BBQ at her sister-in-laws house. Of course we accepted this just for something to do and see some good friends. Beautiful day here so far with temp reaching maybe 80.

We have met several folks from our building and all seem very nice. We sit out front a lot and folks pass by on way to elevator and some like to stop and chat.

My wife’s glasses lost a tiny screw out of the part that hooks around her ear. I found another tiny screw to replace it but dropped it and it disappeared. I was trying to put that bugger into a tiny hole and I shake so bad that it flew off the counter and ended up god knows where.

So I took some dental floss, put it through the hole to hold bow on. Then wrapped around several times and then covered it with tape. Should hold til we get back to BJs where we bought them.

Got to get ready for our ride to the BBQ. Later, Pappy

Italians really know how to put on a BBQ. Yesterday, we were invited to a party at my granddaughters in-laws. There was roughly 60 folks there and I never saw so much food in my life. My god these people can eat. Of course I had to indulge along with them. Sausage, onions and peppers were so darn good. Salads, chips, hot dogs and lots more. Today, we are going to my great grandson’s 18th birthday. More food I imagine.

It is so much different living near family again. For the 25 years we lived in Florida it was rare when we got together. Now, many family are 15 minutes away. I still miss the Florida weather but slowly getting accustomed to NY weather again.

Very little fireworks here last night but the house behind our apartment set off a few. However, at 10pm it stopped and that’s good because that’s our bedtime.

Beautiful day here yesterday and today. Good day to celebrate a birthday party. More food, more laughs and just good times with family. God is good. Pappy

No more BBQs please. Two days in a row is more than enough for me. Eat, and eat some more. 😳
Smaller turnout than Friday but more family as it was my first great grandsons birthday. 18 years old and this kid is 6ft. 9in. tall. Basketball in his future?

Got home about 7 pm and an Amazon package was setting outside my door. I had ordered magnesium pills, juice and puzzle. Glad there are honest people in our complex. A lot of older folks in this building.

Monday, I hope to get my Florida license switched over to NY license. I have NY insurance but still need to register and get my license. I have not been driving because if I get caught I will be fined heavily.
I tried a week ago to do this but wait time was 4 hours. 😡

Hope to get our pink blackout curtains up today. Daughter needs to do it as we don’t do ladders anymore.

6.9'' , Pappy... wow... yes he needs to use that to his advantage while he's too young...

Four and one half hours at DMV to get my drivers license switched over from Florida to New York. Thank god there were no glitches and took no time to pay my $60 dollars and take my picture. Twenty stations and no more than five staffed. Talk about understaffed. 😠

Our new puzzle table should be here today. Something to keep our failing memories active. I’ll send picture when we get it.

Blackout curtains are up and doing a great job blocking out the light outside our window. They are a light pink with gray inside liners.

Have started walking again early in the morning. Just me and a cane to help with balance and walk around two apartment complexes. This photo shows our building and the one next to it. Ours is the one with the red arrow pointing to it.IMG_0816.jpeg

Took some photos of our flowers at the end of our patio. Most of them are doing great but we lost a couple for sure. Our hibiscus plant is weird because it looks like it’s giving up and a few days later it blooms like crazy. I have always loved flowers and as a child growing up the old homestead had all kinds of plants.

Bought myself a new keyboard from Amazon. Got it yesterday and trying to figure out all the different tomes and background settings. It wasn’t cheap but I love the sound of organ music. Country music is a close second type of sound I enjoy. Hope to figure it out soon.

I may have told you this already but I got my NY drivers license and insurance the other day. Seems good to be legally on the road again.

Going to turn off iPad and try to understand the new keyboard. Pappy
