How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Lots of rain so no golf. Going to the gym instead. We have lots to do today to get ready for a big trip we are taking, starting Friday.

We are going to a 75th birthday party for a good friend tonight. I'm looking forward to it but my wife, who is social and gregarious, claims not to like parties.

Morning all, on my early morning walk at 6:50, temp was a muggy 77 with a breeze as I went around building twice a before breakfast
This afternoon at 2pm have a dr's appt having Xrays taken on my partial right knee{ which I had done in 2004}, seeing orthopedic PA I saw 2 yrs ago.At that time he gave me a cortisone shot, hopefully he will give me another one. My problem now takes a bit longer to get up from a chair, also have condition where calicum crystals get between cartilages which can be painful at times. It doesn't stop me from going on my walks
When I get home, read today;s NYT,my book see what's on TV tonight

Good Monday Morning, July 7th, y'all! DH & I are gearing up for two weeks of M-F babysitting our 16 month old grandson. His daycare is on vacation for two weeks. Who ever heard of daycare going on vacation? But don't get me started on the amount of paid time off (including these weeks) this daycare gets. Proof positive of how difficult it is to line up good daycare.

He begins a different daycare come September, and thank heavens for that. While this place is good with the kids, they're rubbish for the parents.

I'm hoping he'll be agreeable to a little pool time this morning since most babies like water play. He's pretty easygoing overall who doesn't object to being dragged around during my usual life errands, much as I did with my own toddlers.

Other than that, I expect it will be life as usual today. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

It's been raining hard all night and right into about an hour ago... and it's pretty breezy so it's brought the temps down to a fabulous 68 deg.. and inside the house with the windows open it's down to 23 deg.. almost 10 deg below what it was just a week ago... so I'm delighted.. but not for long, we're apparently going to see temps climb again as from Wednesday....

My good friend took care of her grandchildren last week because their summer camp was on break. In the summer.

Good luck with the grandchildren, you will sleep well this week!

I have never done the ancestry thing but, I have relatives who have and, it is really interesting, the things we never knew. I expect younger generations will be much better informed about their distant ancestors than we were because, all the information will be there for them.

I like your avatar btw. ;)
Thank you Trish. Connecting with relatives and finding out about often hidden family histories is interesting for sure. No way will I be able to connect with what amounts to almost 20,000 relatives. However, some of those may be duplicate accounts under different names and some are deceased. The information is there if the young-uns choose to use it. Some are not interested in family history. As my online bestie said, it's best to know though, so one doesn't marry one's cousin or half sibling, even.

Only the younger one over then next two M-F weeks, though we'll almost certainly take his big brother for a day over the weekend. It would have to be a true emergency, like someone being hospitalized, for us to take both littles for ten days.

The 3 year old is always eager to come here - he's convinced himself that when he's not with us, we're crying for him. Literally crying.

Feel like I'm running in place,,,planned on doing some weed whacking.
Couldn't get it started.
Dead headed some flowers, instead of spraying weed killer.

Still haven't unlocked our small safe.
Lot of places that can walk you through doing it,,,probably for a price.

YUP,, I'm a tight wad!🙃🫤

Will keep cleaning / hunting in hopes of finding manual for it.

that made me laugh because I know it's not quite the same but my then 3 year old always fell for the crying line.. as well...

She hated brussel sprouts and I would tell her they were crying for her to eat them.

She'd put her ear to them saying she couldn't hear anything, and I'd say it was silent crying, because they were so sad.... and it worked.. she'd eat them... :ROFLMAO:

Do you have the combination?

Good morning, had a new pest control company come over this morning to spray around the house. It cost a little more for the first visit but less after that. It is necessary here to have them due to the insects that exist.

Hope you are all doing well and have a good Monday.:)

do you have to have that done on a regular basis Rae, How does that work...?

After being an English teacher in China for the last 13 years, my older daughter is now permanently coming home for more
college studies. At this moment, she is flying over Japan on her almost 14 hour non-stop flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles.

My daughter just landed at LAX. The airport is 70 miles from our home. Time to celebrate, but my other daughter is still in San Diego.

While my grandson is on a camping trip, I am taking care of his Beagle puppy. Being less than 3 years old and younger
than my pups, she brings my pack back to life playing. On our evening walks, all pups wear a night light for better visibility.

Left: A juvenile hawk in our Eucalyptus trees; I took this picture this morning. Right: Mockingbirds are my most favorite
birds because of their beautiful singing. On my walks with the pups, I usually sit down for a while, just listen, and feel happy.

@horseless carriage the last time I wore a suit was at my daughter's wedding eight years ago. Southern California
is pretty casual compared to where you live (Scotland?) At 89 1/2, I love wearing my frayed cut-off blue jeans.

@hollydolly Yes, the pest control is done every 3 months. It works well for us. You can have the inside sprayed, too but we have not had a problem indoors. But if we do, we just call and they come out for free. The young man was so nice and eager to do it right for us and sprayed around our enclosed porch and outside shed, too. When we had cats, I worried about having it inside but hid them in another room at that time. It is supposed to be safe for animals and humans. I just wanted to be sure.

I forgot to add to my post, or more likely repressed, #8030 above. Within about an hour DD is bringing her two dogs for us to dogsit until Saturday while they're on vacation. She has an elderly chihuahua who is nearly blind, losing his hearing, and needs frequent potty breaks. Also an 18 month old sweet but rambunctious Golden Retriever, who we'll mostly crate from 7:30 - 5:00 while DS's 16 month old is with us.

DD watches Ozzy-dog for us and we watch her dogs for her. The timing just happens to work out poorly this go-round.

I did some more cleaning and straightening up today before the repairman came. He had to replace the large curved pipe under the sink. I'm happy to say it cost less than I expected. He's coming back tomorrow to repair something else. I thought it might be the duel ight fixture in the bathroom, but he did a simple trick and that's working again. If it's still working in the morning, he'll be replacing the vent fan in the bathroom.

I also updated my budget spreadsheets and spent a little over 2 hours on the phone talking with my BFF, HS#3 and a good friend.
